Could it be ear mites? My dog had it and it was some sort of yeast infection.

Its time to take her back to the vets. You don't say what the problem is or what the operation was for; did she have tight ear canals? She may have a second infection. It could be ear mites or mange. Don't bother with baby oil or stuff from the pet shop, it won't work.
Just having her operated on then using some ointment (you don't say what type or what it wa for) is not 'everything'. If she has problem ears they may need constant attention from you throughout her life. She may need you to help keep her ears clean every day with cotton buds and olive oil from the chemist (NOT mineral oil or baby oil). Maybe that was the reason she was dumped in the dogs home, her last owners couldn't be bothered.
She could also have a bad tooth or gum infection which often aggravates ear problems.
If you get benefits your vet can refer you to the Blue Cross or the PDSA, they'll help with the bill. Its means tested and you have to provide proof.

I just got back from the vet a few hours ago with the same problem. My dog has a yeast infection in her ear. Apparently it is common in all breeds of dogs but especially in dogs that have ears that "Flop" or "Fold" in contrast with dogs that have upright ears that stand up off of their heads. My vet gave me a yellow ointment to put down in her ear once a day and said that it will likely happen again. The ointment wasn't that expensive ($17 for two weeks' worth) and he said that if it happened again I could get the meds without an office visit since I know what I'm looking for now.

Don't know if that helps, but every suggestion helps with this sort of thing. I hope you figure something out!

Make sure there are no parasites such as mites or fleas. Put her on a doggy health food made specially for allergies such as Avo. Get an eye cleaner made for dogs and gently wipe out her ears with cotton and the cleaner each day (put a few drops of the cleaner on the cotton pad). Put her on some omega supplements made for dogs. If all this fails, ask your vet for a low dose antihistamine for her - make sure it is from a vet as Benadryl could be toxic to dogs.

Her ears may just be dry inside or she may have ear mites. Try slightly warming some olive oil or baby oil and put 2-3 drops in each ear. It could also be allergies and a cortison shot monthly would help.

I have a Poodle too, but i have never seen him scratch them for more then a sec. and he only does it when there ichy, but have you tried looking for any burs or other things that might have clung to her ears and iritated them? My dog gets weed seeds and burs in his ears and when he does he will scratch like crazy till i get them out, also my dog had to get a lot a hair removed from the inside of his ear because that also caused him to scratch.

I thought my dog had ear mites, turned out he was allergic to beef. I cut out the beef in his diet, no more scratchy ears. Go to the vet to be sure, you don't want to treat the dog for a problem she might not has, will do more harm than good!

Try Hot Spot Itch Relief Spray. It has tea tree oil and aloe in it. You can get it from PetSmart. I used it and my dog stopped scratching within days. But before doing this make sure that it's not something more serious.
