My husband and I believe in God and have faith in Jesus, not religion. Both of us have tried different religions throughout our lives but it seems like they all have negative aspects. We feel that we don't have to associate with any particular church or religion to have a relationship with God and we are much happier for it. We also believe that since God created this earth, then God is everywhere, so why should we have to confine our worship to a building or on a particular day?

I was raised Lutheran. The hypocrisy in the church made it easy to leave. My dad still attends there and the hypocrisy continues. For example: Church has three pastors one makes three times as much as the other two because he was the "founding pastor" of the congregation. The church does not have enough money anymore to pay all three. The answer the top pastor came up with? - fire the other two. Not a very christian attitude! How about he take a pay cut down to the level (or near) what the other two are making and let them keep their jobs? - Pathetic. Add to this, as I grew older I found I am more of a spiritual person than a religious one.

I used to be a Christian, attended United Methodist, Assembly of God, and then Worldwide Church of God, then stopped going to church. Felt kinda guilty at first, until I realized that nothing bad was happening. God didn't zap me from the heavens or anything. Half-heartedly tried Wicca and paganism, but the only cool part was burning candles and incense...which I still do, but only to make the house smell nice. :o) Finally realized that religion makes no difference in a person's life and belief in God is no better than belief in Santa Claus. All those experiences that I thought were "spiritual" were really just emotional, with my own imagination making them into something they weren't. There is ZERO proof for the existence of any of the thousands of deities that humanity has worshipped. If such proof existed, we would know about it by now.

...raises hand

I left religion because I finally figured out it was nothing but a bunch of ancient myths wrapped in nonsense.

I was raised Catholic, and converted to Southern Baptist later on, where I entered a destructive fundamentalist downward spiral until I had reached the brink of insanity.

Now that I'm out of the cult, I consider myself to have been insane at the time, but in a socially acceptable way.

Me. I was a Roman Catholic during my late childhood and early teens. I went to church when it wasn't required. I even won the Christian Living Award in 8th grade. I started to notice how it was constantly jammed down my throat at a cultish pace. Then I realized that none of it made sense and you don't have to have a religion to be spiritual.

I was a Catholic growing up but it was really ritualistic and I didn't like it. I tried protestant churches and I didn't like all the singing and dancing because it just didn't seem respectful enough for me. I then decided I would go at it alone. I started reading the Bible and by the time I got to Paul's letters I realized it was all a bunch of crap so I didn't renew my subscription.

Count me as one of them!
I left christianity due to questioning it and finding all the flaws. Thought about Wicca soon after, but as it too is based on older religions and isn't consistent, ended up just believing in what I know, aka, Me.

:)

i haven't abandoned Christianity altogether, but i have my own beliefs on some things. king James wrote the bible. he didn't understand the Aramaic, therefore i had to ask myself should i believe all of this.

i usually just pray to God and thank him for his sacrifice. try to have a good heart, and follow the ten commandments. (also i follow Jesus's commandment because if you love everyone as Jesus does, then the other ten should be a breeze)

i don't go to church every Sunday, and those same "Christians" judge me, which is something Christian isn't supposed to do. hence he reason for my own belief.

You could say I've left religion altogeter, but I do exault the glory of beer die. Beer die is a higher power to me, and sometimes it feels very spiritual. Oh, and sometimes the die talks to us. When it wants to, it lands 6 up, and with 3 pointing at you, and it's a curse. Todd gets the 6-3's usually because he lets his seed hit the ground.

I have tried most religions, even some cults. Now I am hovering between Christianity, Buddhism and Artheism.
