its not just with the puppies, but with every little animals.what i mean to say is that every young one feels insecure.its because they are still not sure of what they, where they are and that is why a little matter can make them get freaked out.i think thats the same with ur puppies as well.we had a baby pigeon.it was really playful and loving, but whenever we introduced it a blue thing like a blue pen's cap,it used to show its tantrums and make funny sounds.
don't worry ur pet will be ok very soon.consult a vet if u are still worried.good luck.

You may want to try a halter (the collar that goes around the chest and front legs)
Put the halter on him and let him wear it in the house or when he is playing in the yard.
Then tie a very short length of rope (about a foot) to the halter and let him drag it around until he realizes nothing bad will happen.
As soon as he is comfortable with the rope being dragged around take it off for several minutes then put it back on again.
Just extend the rope a few inches at the time until he is pulling the regular leash around.
Do all of this under supervision, never leave him alone with the rope on.
This is a slow and time consuming method. But it is a very sure and proven method.
Anything new tends to worry a young puppy, having the leash extended a little at a time will not be as noticeable as having a 6 foot monster hanging from your neck.
I hope this will work for you baby.

Well if he's never been on a leash before, how's he to know it's just a convenent way to keep in touch with the human? It's confinement and heck his instinct tells him there are 101 nasty lions & tigers that will eat a puppy that can't run & hide. Gentle patience & he'll get it. Let him run around & play dragging a leash (unattached to anything) with him - supervise so he doen't get tangled or course.
Just hold the end & call "puppy, puppy" when he comes loosing the leash pet him praise him, give him biskets ect.
If you have an older dog that does know about leashes try taking both at once sometimes that helps

Put the leash on him in the house. Then drop the leash and just let him run around with it on so he will get used to the feel. Call him to you and pick up the leash while petting him. Then drop the leash and let him run some more. After a few days he should not mind the leash. Hold the leash and try a few steps in the house first. Some puppies can be a little stubborn with leash training. Keep at it. He'll get it.

I am a K-9 trainer, and MR. JEFFRYD or whatever said something about treats and the leash. He is right, that will work. But while you have the treats, let him eat one before the leash. Then add the leash, give him one more. Then put another treat a foot or two away from him, make him go get it while the leash is on, then Bingo eventually, like JEFF said, the puppy will forget the leash.

Leash training is an essential part of your puppy's training. Puppies were not born knowing how to be on a leash..the best thing to do is continue to train the puppy and eventually it will do just fine on it. I used to leave the leash on the pup in the house so it can get used to the feeling of it.

The leash is a new sensation for a puppy, an dhe doesn't understand it. Try this. Put some very small treats in your pocket, put his leash on, and take him outside. Hold one o fth esmall treats in your hand, in front of him, so he has to walk on the leash to get it. Soon he won;t care abou tthe leash.

I used to have this problem with my puppy. It's mainly because it's something new to them completely and it scares them. If someone were to come up to you and put a leash on you and decide to drag you around the block for a while you'd probably be like umm...ok wtf is going on here? and its the same principle with the puppy...what i did with mine is put a leash on him for a while and then sit in my driveway and he twisted and turned for a while but just sit and talk to him and give him treats every now and then and he'll warm up to being fine and then slowly try to walk him around familiar places like your yard or driveway or even the house and if he freaks sit down and talk to him for a while til he's OK with it again...after about 3 days of this my puppy was fine to walk anywhere on a leash.

You have already gotten some great advice from others!

I wanted to add make sure you are not reinforcing this behavior (or others such as acting fearful) by picking him up and 'babying' him or otherwise praising the behavior.
