Christianity makes a mockery of God. At the same time that Christians claim to worship God as an omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent being, they make him out to be incompetent bumbler. Or worse. Simple forgiveness is beyond his capacities. God must "sacrifice himself to himself to change a rule he made himself!"

This is not only an absurdity, it is an essential absurdity. It is present in almost almost all forms of Christianity, and one can scarcely remove it and remain a Christian in anything but name. By definition, all Christians worship Christ - in some form - and most worship him as a saviour.

But what, exactly, is he saving us from? Though it varies from church to church, no matter what they call it, it's God himself. A hell created by God, a world fallen as a result of God's negligence, a separation from God imposed... by God.

"It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being."
- Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith

Christianity certainly isn't the first religion to promote appeasement of its gods, and if it were merely another supernatural protection racket, it would be bad enough. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Christians elevate appeasement to the realm of "personal relationship", transforming their religion into a true monstrosity.

This is the type of "relationship" that abused wives have with their husbands, that brainwashed hostages have with their captors. It is known in clinical circles as Stockholm Syndrome. Should it come as any surprise that the cries of the church, "The Bride of Christ" sound much like the cries of an abused wife attempting to protect her husband?

"He must beat me."
"I deserve it."
"He has no choice."
"It's for my own good."

These excuses don't work for human abusers, and they work even less well for God. For if God is omnipotent, he must have a choice. And if we are flawed, we are only flawed because that is the way he made us. (No excuses that we ruined his perfect creation. A truly perfect creation does not self-destruct.)

If the Christian God does exist - and I see no reason to believe that he does - he's not worthy of the name.

And that is the ultimate absurdity of Christianity.

tell them about the horrible crimes christians have committed in the name of Jesus and ask them if they whould like to do that.

I agree with casanova. its a bad idea to try to convert people. it will make the well informed ones very angry with you. as it is more and more people are becoming wary of christians that think the best thing to do is *save someone*

Allow people to convert themselves...I was a Mormon missionary but the 30 people that I baptized either converted themselves because they know it is true....or they have since fallen away because they could not keep their conviction intact...it happens..

You can't force religion on anyone or start theological wars...that creates contention and is a poor place for the spirit to reside..it destroys the ambience..if someone is not ready you must leave and give them time to want it on their own..

Many people do not even know who Jesus Christ is..it is not a bad thing to educate yourself or help others be educated..but respect the fact that the change of religion is a change of a way of life. I have taught people in every religion, I took the time to learn about several religions so that I could show empathy and compassion for those who are of different faiths and also so that I could understand their way of thinking as well as how their roots of faith were formed. I could show them the similarities and the fact that they weren't giving up very much and they might enjoy some of the differences between the two...

Satori, my buddy: based upon my first reading of the third version of the e book "The Fierced human beings" some years in the past and third reading lower back this 300 and sixty 5 days, this editorial description of Chagnon's e book is discreet. whilst the third version became into printed, Chagnon had lived with the Yanamomo for extra or less 4 years. interior the final financial disaster of the third version, Chagnon describes the end results of the missionaries - Catholic and Protestant - on those outstanding human beings. besides to their "contribution" of "civilized" outfits to the Yanomamö way of existence, the missionaries extra with them diverse different much less benign presents: ailment, weapons, tourism and a scientific eradication of their way of existence. some could disagree with my use of the term - yet i think of of it as a sort of genocide. This "systematic erasure" of their way of existence has in no way been finished. The Yanomamö are a stable and resilient human beings. regardless of the undeniable fact that, the accepted outcomes of the missionaries' attempt to transform those human beings from their way of existence and consider of the international to their own style of christianity is a sought after tragedy. there have been many techniques during which missionaries have extra harm to the Yanomamö. attempt to study this e book. that is totally exciting. i do no longer consider all the comments, regardless of the undeniable fact that it well worth nicely reading it and you will come alongside with your guy or woman conclusions. gentle staggering!

We cant convert anybody to anything. We can supply a need like food or water and present what we know as far as Christ is concerned. It is up to the Holy Spirit to do the rest and the person has to be willing.

The word says its the love of God ( or the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation) that brings man to repentance. No where else does the word say that anything but the love of God being given that brings man to God. If that means giving then its giving items. Honestly though no greater thing can you really do but to take people under you wing, undershepard them , protect their hearts and lives with prayer diligently while they are getting their feet under them in the word. Remember the word says that God would have all men be saved and come to a full and accurate knowledge of the truth. Sadly religion often just gets them saved and leaves out there on the firing lines with no word be a light under their feet. We can't just get them saved and move on we have to teach them to the point that they can go on to be strong and get others delivered as well.

Jesus said to ( go into all the world and preach the Gospel) and he knew what he wanted us to do. We must also live it and demonstrate that we have a new life in Christ. Then we also pray for the sick to be healed.
But it is not about what I think it is about what Jesus commanded to be done.

I would think the best way to convert people to Christianity is through your actions. You can talk until your blue in the face, but people really look at your actions. If you have qualities that they admire, they will be more willing to hear what you have to say.

They won't listen until they see the fruits of the Lord's produce in you. dont try to convert them set an example with a kind and gentle spirit so they may glorify the Lord, not about you it's about him.
Noone will listen if you threaten with hellfire and damnation and constantly judge them, people listened to Jesus cause he was example of his teaching.

don't ever ever every say, "i'll give this food and water if you convert to christianity."

then you're forcing people to convert, and hoenstly, wouldn't you rather people converted to your religion because its worthwhile than to convert because they're hungry?

tell them all the good things about christianity, that it teaches respect, love, and patience. show them how to be a good christian. show them that you're happy being a christian. ie, lead by example.

Be an example. Don't shove the word down their throat. Plant the seed and let God water and germinate it.
