The link below is from the Lake Powell Science Center. Scroll down to the graph that is titled, "What is the Earth's Climate Record?" and point out where "today" is located. Does that look like global warming? There has been some minor warming over the last 30 years, but that does not equate with factories being evil. The world has gone through many periods of warming and cooling, and the warmest periods--as you can see from the link--occurred long before humans even existed! This website does a great job of putting modern climate trends into the context of historical climate fluctuations, and proves that humans have NO control over climatological patterns, either positive or negative. Eliminating factories, cars, and aerosol cans wouldn't make a bit of difference because these things are irrelevant.

Does that mean we should pollute the world at will? Of course not. We have to breathe the air, drink the water, grow food out of the soil, so they might as well be clean so we all don't get sick. A clean environment is much more pleasant and useful than a polluted one. We CAN control pollution; we CANNOT control climate.

Cars also cause it. The government maks it so there has to be a certain MPG (miles per gallon) by a certain year, and if the government doesn't do a good job of this, it makes a huge difference to the amount of gasoline emitted into the air. This is why hybrids are so much more healthy for the environment. But other things that contribute to global warming are air conditioning, using electricity (with a bulb in a room of your house), and anything that needs electricity or gasoline to run.

Most factories now don't have smokestacks, not nearly as many as there was a long time ago anyway.

Everyone is at fault, and it's not just the US. However, the majority of the developed countries have made policy changes to reduce emissions. The U.S. has not. It's the government's fault for not making stricter policies. It's our free market culture's fault for producing an environment where people only care about money. It's the companies who own those factories fault for only being worried about profits and not the consequences of their actions. But, it is VERY much the normal citizen's fault for driving SUV's, buying so many cars that every person in the family with a driver's licence has their own car, supporting the free market/capitolist culture, buying the products made in those factories, not being more aware, etc. And global warming is just one of MANY environmental issues that have come up because people are more worried about now and making proffits now that they don't care about how they scorch the earth.

Governments are made up of people, so "government" cannot be blamed. We have facts and opinions on global warming at our fingertips with the Internet and so many news sources. If you think of all the sources, factories are the main cause, then you can think that. But the next time you want to get into a bus or taxi or your car, think about where it was made. Next, consider that in the USA we have pollution standards for our factories, but many countries do not.

You have to ask your self this question: What power allows factories and major power plants to be so harmful to the environment? The GOVERNMENT. Most of the problem about alerting the people is not about hurting the government, but about the money. Any solution to this problem is bound to cost the government billions. Global warming is not only caused by factories but by the PEOPLE as well.

Global warming is pretty much everyone's fault. Yes, it is the fault of the government for not requiring automobiles to have higher mpg ratings, for not requiring better pollution controls in industry, and for not requiring that all appliances used by consumers consume less fuel and produce less pollution.

It is also the fault of big business for not seeing the problem for what it is and voluntarily doing something about it.

Finally, it is our fault, all of us. We are contributing to the problem every time we drive a car without additional passengers, every time we leave the lights or the tv on, every time our appliances are running. We are responsible when we choose to use standard, inefficient light bulbs rather than superefficient compact fluorescent bulbs.

We have to get involved in living a more conscious life that does not pollute our environment; we need to petition corporations to behave more responsibly in the products they produce and how they produce them; and we need to actively engage our government at local, state, and federal levels to take a more proactive stance to reducing and perhaps even stopping global warming before the consequences become truly disastrous.

Remember NAFTA the giant sucking sound that Bush senior and Ross Perot was trying to stop but Clinton wasn't?
Some of the big corporations moved to Mexico so they could hire people for less pay and be able to dump waste and pollute the air without the same restrictions or fines as in America. People critizise the U.S., especially so-called environmetalists, but the fact is we have the most restrictions in the world. The EPA doesn't have any jurisdiction in Mexico but when Clinton was voted in, the result was probably the biggest mistake, environmental-wise, we could have made.

i think it is the Earth's hottest temperature in 2000 years.

actually, it is everybody's fault. we tend to want more since the birth capitalism and industrialization. we want efficiency in mass production. we want higher incomes, better standard of living etc. however, our resources our scarce and in exchange of all the progress we have is the gradual degradation of our environment. gradual is becoming faster and faster...

you should blame not only the factories but all of us because we create the demand for their products and in one way or the other we contribute to global warming a pollution.

what governments can do is make and implement policies that can slow down destruction and help return nature's beauty. today we have the kyoto protocol and a lot of NGO, we should live in a lifestyle that can be sustained by the environment. what happens today is we consume more than what the earth can give us. but the action is still on the people. in additon, we only have one place to live...
