I have had 2 sections and my second one was the one I had problems with. BTW I prefer sections. When they cut me open they accidentally nicked my bladder and didn't realize it. The next day when they want you to pee I couldn't. They kept telling me I had a lazy bladder. They then tried filling up my bladder to make it really have to go and I couldn't. So they put a catheter in. Well the catheter got plugged with blood and it wasn't working right. I had fallen asleep and when I woke up I had to pee really bad. I called the nurse and they didn't have any more catheters that size so they had to order some and it wouldn't be in for another 45 minutes. When they finally emptied my bladder I had 2 liters of fluid in there. When I went home from the hospital 6 days later I still could not pee on my own. I had to go home with a catheter in and go back to the doctor every week to get a new catheter and for them to try to get my bladder to work again. It took 8 weeks before I could go back to work. I had to go see a specialist and I had to learn to catheter myself. It was terrible. My husband and I really thought that that was how we were going to have to live for the rest of our lives. That would have been a life altering thing. Not to mention having a pee bag strapped to the side of your leg is not very sexy.

I had 2 vaginal deliveries and one C section . I prefer vaginal . Although there is more pain during the actual birth recovery is much faster.
With my 2nd child , he was only 34 weeks gestation. I was induced at 8am. I went from 0 to 3 cm in about an hour , 3 to 8 in 30 minutes. They checked me and said "you are 8 cm , not efaced and the baby hasn't dropped yet." Ten minutes later he crowned and was born after pushing 3 times. The labor was so intense and fast that I hypeventilated and vomitted. I still would take that over a c section any day.

My daughter is now 8 months old. I had a very easy pregnancy, no sickness or anything.

I was very optimistic about the birth, My mum and Sister had both had easy natural births without the need for many drugs, and the longest for either of them was 6 hours. I thought I would be the same, and didnt even bother paying any attention to information about C sections - I was so sure I wouldnt need one.

When I went into labour, it was fine. I was getting through the early contractions and staying pretty active. After about 4 hours they were coming every three minutes, but still werent very intense pain wise. My husband was overseas and wasnt around (Freya was ten days early), and in the event of this happening I had asked my mum and sister to be my birth partners. We decided to go to the hospital after I had been in the early stages for about 12 hours. The contractions were still frequent but not too painful, so I was doing ok.

When we got to the hospital my waters still hadnt broken, and I was 5 centimetres dialated. It was the usual case of a long wait ahead for me to get to 10cm. I started on Gas and Air, and then after a few more hours had a dose of pethadine. THe contractions were very close together, and very intense, but I was still only 5CM.

10 hours and another dose of pethadine later, I was totally out of it. The pain was so bad I was practically climbing the walls. The midwife had checked my cervix and thought she felt something wierd, plus freya was only 3/5s engaged still. She called a Dr in who checked me and said they thought Freya ws coming down with her arm stuck by her head. Ok I thought, lets just keep going, so I asked them to break my waters for me.

After that my contractions were basically constant. When I looked at the monitor that was tracking the contractions, they were actually off the scale. The midwife told me it was tim eot start pushing so I did....for two hours!!!!!

After that the midwife called the Dr in again, since there had been no progress. The Dr checked me and before I knew there were loads of people in the room. The Dr explained that Freya ws coming the wrong way round - brow first. This part of the head just doesnt fit throught the cervix, and they hadnt realised it til then. I was told I had to have an c section as soon as poss, so they told me to stop pushing. This was the worst part. I had to physically stop my body from pushing, when that was all it wanted to do, My entire body was being lifted off the bed from the force of my muscles trying to contract and me trying to stop it. All the while they were trying to administer the epidural in my back. I was naked, high on drugs, cold and very scared!

Just as they were administering the epidural, things went a bit crazy. I was suddenly rushed out of the room and down the corridor, with the nurse screaming "FH down to 48" - I later learned this meant freyas heart had almost given up. Thank god I didnt know that at the time.

I had the surgery, and that was all fine, and luckily freya was born five minutes later, healthy.

Apart from a HUGE black eye - where she had been banging her head against my pelvis for almost 30 hours.

I hope to god I have a normal labour next time!!!!

Well, I don't know if this will be considered dramatic or painful, but I do have a story to share. :)

My older son was born vaginally...no problems. When he was 15 months old, I was about 2 weeks away from my due date with my second son. I had noticed one day (on a Saturday) that my baby wasn't moving much. That evening, I called my ob/gyn, and he told me to go the hospital for a NST. I figured I'd be in and out of there in an hour or so, so my husband stayed home with our older son and I drove myself to the hospital. They hooked me up to the monitors and found that every time I had a Braxton Hicks contraction, it was putting my baby in distress and his heart rate would drop dramatically. They told me they would call my husband, but not tell him what was going on (so he wouldn't freak out and wreck on the way to the hospital) and they let me call my sister so she could go watch my older son so my husband could come to the hospital. This all happened so fast. Needless to say, about 20 minutes later, they were cutting into my uterus and delivering my baby. The surgery went off without a hitch. By the time my husband got to the hospital (he had to wait for my sister, who lived 30 minutes away, to get there to watch our older son), I was already in recovery and my spinal block was wearing off.

I should have been thankful that my baby was healthy and happy and we were both doing well, but all I kept thinking was (and yes, I'm a weirdo, lol) that I was looking forward to giving birth vaginally and having my husband by my side and going through everything that normally happens. All I could think was that my poor husband was cheated out of seeing our son born. Well, he wouldn't have watched, but he would have been by my side.

Now, nearly a year later, we're all fine and moved on and it's just a distant memory. :) I do have to say that I MUCH prefer having a vaginal birth. The c-section was nothing...I was numb. But the recuperation was awful. AWFUL.

I have had 2 sections. The first was a failed attempt at natural birth and I too felt everything. I was induced and after 22 hours of back and forth labor and stopping they rushed me into the o.r. and rushed through it. No time for preparing, not enough medication, they just cut and got him out. My second was a breeze and I feel like I didn't participate. I went in, had a spinal and layed back. There she was and there I went.

ok i have had one of each. i prefer vaginal. my daughter was born vaginally with no complications, other that extreme preemie and she died.i went back to work less that a week later.

my son was via emergency c-section. he was in distress. i dilated out just fine and pushed for 2 and a half hours with no luck. c- section ordered. i felt nothing during the birth they opened me up and delivered him. he was tangled in his cord. it was around his neck twice and around his waist. this is a rare problem. right after my son was delivered i went in to distress, my blood pressure dropped . at the same moment my doctor noticed blood in my catheter bag. i had a tear in my bladder. he had a urologist called down to the operating room to do the repair as i needed emergency surgery on it. i was in surgery for over 2 hours. i was awake the whole time as well. my bladder will never be like it was before. i had a very strong bladder now its weak. not real weak but still. my recovery was awful i was in the hospital a total of 6 days. walking was my enemy. it was a bad expereince with a happy ending. my son is now three and we are trying to have another child

i was a week overdue with my son when they decided that they would induce me because i was miserable i could hardly get out of be i was so tired and fat i had to call the hospital at 5pm to see if they had any beds and they didnt so they told me to call back at 6 and they then had an open bed so i went in when i got there my husbands two best friends were calling us on our cell phones to see where we were because we were not in my room but they were so we finally got up to my room where there were already people waiting on me to get there then i realized that i had forgotten my pillow so i called my mother to go by my house and pick it up when she got there about 30 minutes after we arrived she and my husband went to get something to eat so i was left with my husbands two best friends one of which had to hold my hand while i got an iv in the other i sat with an iv in my arm that was only giving me saline until 12 in the morning then they finally came in and gave me my pitocen and told me that it would start to work in about 2 hours well needless to say 30 minutes later it started to work my nurse came in and checked me and told me that i was 3 cm dialated already but that it should slow down then about 2 hours later i felt like i really had to go to the bathroom so i called my nurse and she took me to the bathroom where my water broke then when i told her that she checked me again and i was fully dialated then she got a call and told me not to push she would be back in a minute well she didnt come back for an hour then when she came back i started pushing and i ended up pushing for 2 1\2 hours when she finally told me he was face up unstead of face down so she called in a doctor where they began doing a vacuum delivery they tried three time on the last try the doctor that was doing the vacuum pumping got a phone call because a pregnant woman had been in an accident and was dying (both the mother and child lived) so she was not paying any attention to what she was doing and did not vacuum all the way and the doctor began to pull on the vacuum and i pushed well it slipped and blood went everwhere my husband ended up throwing up in my hair and down my arm so they took me to a c-section where they had a new anestesiologist who was learning (thankfully he was just observing) i got my spial block which made me shake like i was really cold then they brought in my husband then they began the surgery everything was fine until my anestesiologist said "OH MY GOD" which is not what you want to hear when you are having a baby or surgery so both me and my husband began to worry so i asked her what was going on she looked at me and told me that it was the biggest baby she had ever seen come out of a woman so small he weighed 10lbs 4oz and was 22 in long and i am 102 and 4ft 11in then they took the baby to clean him up and rap him up so that my husband could hold him well my husband went to go get the baby and i realized that there was a mirror pointed where they were performing the rest of my surgery (of course they could not have pointed it out when he was coming out) so i began to feel sick and i said something and my nurse put one of those peanut looking things by my face but it did not help i ended up throwing up all over myself then my husband brought my son to see me and once i saw him i smiled and then passed out the next thing i remember was some woman standing over me asking if i was okay (i was dreaming about something) then they took me to my room where i was not allowed to get out of bed for two days and i ended up staying in the hospital an extra day
