step one is to find out if it's 2 wheel or 4 wheel ABS.

2 wheel can be done by a shade tree mechanic, 4 wheel needs a scan tool.

But you are looking at a trip to a mechanic shop to find out

If you want, change the sensor in the rear end for the ABS first as usually that's what turns them on (the light won't come on after you start the truck until you get over about 10 mph is one clue)

If not.. it could be anything and I say $1500 is too high for a ABS unit assembly, $1000 for such a unit and labor is more realistic and is a worst case senario

As a Ford Tech for 10 yrs, I would replace the rear ABS sensor AKA rear speed sensor. This is a cheap part around $ 15.00 very easy to install by any one. One bolt holds it and is on top of the rear end housing. They are real common to go out and even if it doesnt fix it it will need replacing soon im sure. But a mech that knows how to diag should be able to say for sure. If its a 4 wheel abs system check the ground wire at the front of the truck by the headlight on the drivers side and be sure its good and tight. Seen that one before too.

It could be many things. Worse comes to worse, it is a HCU or Hydraulic Control Unit. The Dealership will want $1500 to fix this, get some price quotes from other brake shops.

You can check your fuses, but I'm 90% sure it is the rear wheel speed sensor on the back end.

I had the same problem with an F150, check your fuses first, if not a fuse then go to a mechanic or dealer and have it checked out.
