We've had her a little over a week now, and just yesterday realized that she doesn't lift her tail straight up in the air when she poops. She instead just lifts it half way and sorta curls it around her body and poop ends up getting on it. I believe this just started? Could it be because we are watching her go? How do we teach her to lift her tail up when she goes?? My mom is talking about having to get rid of her b/c she doesn't want to clean poop off her tail everytime she goes. Please help!

Go to the vet. And since you enjoy watching a cat crap watch a video by Dante called Clerks.

Play with her tail, if she meows, or acts like she's in any kind of pain, bring her to a vet, she could have some kinda problem with lifting her tail... if she doesn't seem to have anything wrong with her tail, let it be... Cats are very clean animals... They clean themselves on average about 3 times a day... I'm guessing she's a kitten... and like a little boy ( learning how to stand and pee) it's gonna take her a few to figure it out.. Eventually she will get grossed out about licking her poo off herself.. And if she isn't cleaning it off, give her time... she probably just doesn't know enough yet... She probably was taken away from her mother too soon.. Hope this helps..

She is not doing it because you are watching her. Some cats just do this. She may start lifing it when she gets older. Are her stools loose? If they are loose and the poop sticks to her tail, she may have worms. Normal stools are hard enough that the poop won't stick, even if they don't lift the tail the whole way up.

I don't think they have to lift up their tails when they go to the bathroom...and maybe you should lift it up for your cat or maybe clean up his poop off his tail with wipes by yourself.

it is completely normal for a kitten to not clean itself after it poops it will learn trust me it doesn't like getting poop on itself just give her time buy some baby wipes to wipe her after she goes and maybe try to hold her tail up when she goes she will learn don't worry

Maybe she is a type of cat that should have her tail removed or maybe there is something wrong with her. Better see a vet.
