Hi. I'm a Muslim. Well, if you want a direct answer, the answer is Yes. But Islam forbids Muslims to talk about things such as private sex because it can cause embarrassment especially to the wives. In Islam, the women must cover themselves as a protection against lust, hence what is the use of covering women if private sexual experiences are the topics of conversation among men? Nevertheless, the wives have the right to refuse into engaging with such activity. By the way, even though Islam permits it's followers to have more than one wife, there are a lot of strict rules and conditions to be followed, such as financially capable, permission from the current wife, having solid reason such as the present wife cannot bear children, and must be EXACTLY fair to all of the wives (if one gets a house, ALL get a house each - can you afford it?) This is done so that the women's rights are protected. I don't know why some western women argue that Islam doesn't give women their right when women ARE being given their rights. They accuse anyhow without proper analysis. Also, Islam doesn't have wacky laws. The laws in Islam is suitable for all races / universal (unlike Christianity is meant for certain group - as mentioned in their Bible) and Muslims can pray straight to Lord God without any middlemen and it is purely logic that ONLY Lord God has the authority to forgive the human sins, not some group of men who has a high tendency to rape children.

I'm a Muslim Man and I'll provide you with an answer. The condition for having multiple wives (up to 4) is to treat them equally. Under this condition the husband has to provide SEPARATE but EQUAL living conditions to his wives. If one wife lives in a $150,000 home, he needs to buy the other wife a house of similar value. Even in the allocation of nights, he needs to divide the nights between the 2 (I'm using the 2 as an example), so having multiple wives entails a greater responsibility than pleasure. And clearly with what I said, the orgy can't happen.
Also in Islam what a man and woman can expose out of their body is governed by the relationship of the individuals. Hence the 2 wives can't expose themselves to one another.

Polygamy is a natural need of males in certain conditions, and Islam is not against natural needs but it controls and organizes it. Now if you are truthful answer my question: Which is better to have a limitation of 4 legal wives with all the obligations as in Islam or to have unlimited number of girl friends without any obligations but to spread lethal diseases like AIDS as in the west countries today.

Muslims are allowed to marry four wives so that no woman seeking a husband would be without one, especially after wars, when many young men are killed and women, at times with young children are left to fend for themselves. Such conditions have caused women to go into prostitution or become mistresses to support their young children as they can not leave their children home to work, especially when children are suckling.

Islam does not REQUIRE one to get more wives but ALLOWS IT. Remember also that Jacob or Israel had four women who bore him the twelve children who developed into the nation of Israel. If polygamy by itself would have been evil, the Lord would not have allowed it at all, or caused the nation to be born from only one woman. Abraham was married to three women, David was married to at least eight, if I remember right, Solomon was married to a one thousand women... if Polygamy is wrong or criminal, then think who is being called one.

Each woman in a Muslim marriage with more than one lady represents a separate family, complete. It is highly recommened that each wife has her own home or area. When one man marries four women, it makes four complete families, each with a father and a mother and children. If one woman marries four men, that is not the case, and there would be confusion on who is the father of a given child. Besides each man will have to take his turn for getting a baby of his own, so his genes could be kept alive. The woman too would be forced to produce at least one baby for each of her hubbies and having your own baby for a man would become a big chore, wait and hope situation.

Lastly polygamy is permitted in ISLAM not as a privilege but as a responsibility. If polygamy is discarded, then you will have serial polygamy (marriage, divorce, marriage, divorce etc), which is more detrimental to children as they keep losing their real father or mom. If polygamy is not allowed, the imbalance between the number of men and women will cause more demand for men and place more value on males or female babies will be aborted or women will be forced to die as it used to happen in Sati when a woman killed herself on the funeral pyre of the husband. Many times this reality resulted in the killing of the female foetus or even a child. In some cases 'extra' females had to live in convents without any contact with the outside World. Other women would have to live as spinsters, alone in their old age, when they had no children and the rest of their siblings are married having families of their own and no time for them. In other cases women would (God forbid) turn to lewdness and prostitution in search of male company -- which is a natural and normal right of every woman. This in turn leads to abortions, street children and other social evils that can destablize society.

After wars, it is also easier to recover the population losses also as four women would make four babies in a year.

Also four wives could help each other in household things, take care of each others kids and get more free time to pursue their personal goals.
