I played soccer a couple of weeks ago and due to the foot shifting, I acquired a black nail on one of my toes. It hasn't really disappeared.. how can I have it, sooner than later, go away?

The blackness is caused by dried blood under the nail due to injury. The QUICKEST way would also be the most painful and irreversible. Your doctor can remove the nail and scrape the dried blood away. Your nail will NOT grow back. Nail missing forever, but hey! blacknail gone!

Now do you want BEST way to get rid of it?
Let nature take it's course and it'll be gone in 3-6 months as the nail continues to grow and pushes the dried blood out.

In the meantime, if you're like a foot model or something, tell your agent you have to get a pedicure to cover it with skin-tone color nail polish. It'll only be noticable to you because only you and your agent will know it's there.

It is bruising under the nail. It will take weeks for the nail to grow out. There really is nothing you can do. You can paint your nails a different color to cover it up.

Leave it alone!!!! The nail is protecting the injury beneath it. When the toe heals. the nail will fall of and a new white nail will grow. Leave it alone -- it is not bothering anyone.

My husband has a big toe nail that is blck from stubbing it really bad.. we got flesh colored polish and white and painted it exactly the same as the rest of his toes and it looks perfect.... it will grow out eventually you have to give it time.

You have to give it time. The nail grows about a quarter of an inch per month. You are stuck with that but you can always paint it a bright and cheerful color.

Short of going to the foot Dr you just have to wait for the pooled blood to dissipate or for the nail to fall off

Gee, that's a good one. I have had so many purple/black toenails come off from different injuries. I never tried to get it off any sooner than it wanted to though.
