It is bad to brush your hair when it's wet because it causes your hair to break, which is the little fly away pieces you see sometimes frizzing out when it's dry...the brush acts way too harsh on your hair and the best way to get the tangles out when wet is to comb it with a big tooth comb. Combs don't have the harsh bristles on them and therefore the comb won't break your hair. Once it drys, then you can brush it with a regular brush!

Hair stretches up to 4 times its length when wet, so logically it's more prone to snap if wet, that's why you should comb it with a wide tooth comb, not a brush that might break the hair in two.

No. It's actually better for your hair.

To those above that say "Yes". You are not entirely wrong.
Please try to understand that for overall good health of your scalp and hair, your hair must break or fall out when it is weak.
If your hair is really weak then please check your diet and nutrition. You may be lacking or you may have some other factors affecting your health. Like you may have some other imbalances.
Hair is mostly protein (just like your nails) and also takes up many of the minerals in your bloodstream. Example: Hair is the easiest thing to test if you've been exposed to many poisons (Like mercury or arsenic).
If you have excessive hair fallout when brushing-combing wet, please ask your doctor about this at the next visit.
Good Luck and Good Health

Yes, because your hair is at its weakest point. It will break off a lot if you brush it. If you really need to brush your hair when its wet use a wide-toothed comb and be gentle, don't pull hard to get tangles out! Start at the bottom and work your way up to the roots.

Depends on what kind of brush you are using. If it's doesn't have a bunch of bristles on it, you should be okay, like one of those all plastic ones, with the big spaces in between the bristles. The bristly ones will grab your hair and pull it more, possibly breaking the hairs. I always comb my hair in the shower with conditioner in. It helps to spread the conditioner throughout my hair and then I don't have to comb it again once I get out.

wet hair is weaker than dry hair so it gets damaged easily when u use a brush on it. I usually use the wet hair comb which disentangles hair without doing much damage.

Hair is more elastic when wet and with tend to tangle more on a brush/comb. But to make hair manageable, use a slight amt of conditioner chosen for your hair type to make hair easier to comb through or detangle it for less breakage! Good luck!

YES!!! STOP IT NOW!!! You will damage your hair like that, cause split ends and months of agony for yourself!! Put down that brush & pick up a wide toothed comb if you need to detangle when wet!

Maybe cause you can lose a lot of hair that way...that's what hairdryers are for. I brush my hair when it's wet all the time...and yeah I lose a lot of hair...it depends really on how much you love your hair
