The shampoo should be effective in killing the nits. I wouldn't rely on hot irons to kill them because you can't get the iron close enough to the scalp to make sure that you've gotten them all.

NO! Today's lice are wayyyyy more tolerant to everything than they used to be. All nits must be picked out. Go outside and let the sun shine on whoever's hair and the nits and lice will be really visible. If nothing else works, pour vegetable oil on hair and cover it. Leave in for 48 hours. Seriously. This is the only way to cure a bad case lice. Don't forget to clean and sanitize EVERYTHING!!!

Most shampoos, such as Nix, will kill both the lice and their eggs. They are resiliant little critters, so unless you can burn your scalp as well, some will survive the iron because they are on the skin. The shampoos and combs are the most effective.

Hell no, the best thing for lice is the shampoo, unfortunately I can't remember what the products name was. and you still have to comb the lice and pick off the tiny see through eggs on the hair. Or shaving the hair is another option.

I wouldn't put any of those chemicals on myself, lt alone my child. You need to pick through and pull them and the eggs all out. It can be done; was done forever before all the shampoos. Sure, it's grueling, but it's thorough.

that won't work ... you have to kill them w/ the treatment, as well as treat your WHOLE house... or else they will keep coming back....
