People have mentioned to install Linux.

But the thing is that when you install programs it might not be so FisherPrice if you know what I mean.

It is quite hard, and Linux isn't just Linux.
There are soo many different types,
Fedora Core, Ubunta, Debian, Mandrake, SUSE,Red Hat(which is gone[and No USB support]), and Knoppix and the list goes on.

It depends really on what you want to do with your computer, is which Linux distribution you would want to install is Debian because it known for it's ease in installing other 3rd party programs to do your odds and ends i.e. converting mp3s blah blah blah.

If you want to still use your windows products there is a program for linux called Wine which means Windows Emulator, emulates alot of programs nicely.

Best of all Linux's are free, except for Enterprise editions which you have to pay monthly.

Yes. Mostly using any number of Linux distros and OpenOffice. Most Linux distros can be downloaded free of from any number of sites, I have no preference as to which one is used, SUSE is very good and Ubuntu is gaining popularity. So, you would be using some Linux Distro, OpenOffice for the Office suite and Firefox as your browser. The thing you have to keep an eye out for with Linux is that not all your devices will be fully supported, some may have drivers, some may not, some may only support partial features. And let's face it, installing drivers in Linux is no picnic, it's not like Windows where you can just click and install. And even then, it may work, it may not work, it may only work partially.
