I'm afraid I may assemble something large like a bed frame in my small apartment, and not be able to get it out the door and down the stairs in one piece.

I've assembled and dissasemblled futons and entertainment centers from wal mart, but didn't know if ikea assembly was permanent.

the specific reason i ask is because in the "as-is" department of ikeas things are marked "assembled/damaged" which make me believe maybe you can't dissasemble their furniture.

Mostly you can, but I've bought a few IKEA items where glue was part of the assembly process. If you get it home and find out that you will be permanently assembling it, you can always bring it back. Or you can ask to see the assembly instructions before you buy it.

Allan (hex) key and a screwdriver... it all comes apart pretty easy. If it's a more complicated piece, draw a diagram of what goes where. If all else fails...slegehammer. :) Just kidding!

I was 'Master of the Allan Key' in 2003... :)

Just make sure you save the little hex wrench - no problems. (and instructions)

if its from ikea then you have no need to worry....

it'll fall apart before you need to dismantle it!!
