You've got theology, and then you've got religion. Are you searching for a religion or a theology? Do you want a set of guidelines to follow, or do you feel a need to worship?
If the former, check into Buddhism's nine-fold path. Far superior to the ten commandments, they are all anyone needs to live a good life.
If the latter, sit down and decide what you believe in. There are websites that will rate your answers to questions and tell you where you fit in.
Or how about simply believing what you believe, and doing what you feel is right, and not mucking that up with organized religion? There's no reason you can't worship your conception of god all by yourself. If you're looking to connect with others who feel as you do....that may not be possible. Just be yourself!

Dont take up religion, take up religiousness. Religion only divides no matter which it is. The moment you call yourself a Hindu or a Christian, you have automatically separated yourself from someone who probably calls himself a Muslim. Any division must bring conflict hence following a particular religion is divisive. The world has been a witness to this time and again. Religiousness is a way of life where you understand basic things like not to hurt anyone and to do your best on anything that you do.
About God, the question is not if there is some God or immortals, the real question is, can you tackle 'fear'? Fear leads to a need for belief in a superior being. This is not exactly easy to understand. You must go into it yourself.

"I was born into a family who didn't follow religion and they didn't care about them. They only believed what is natural and backed up by science or the most scientific answer to things."
Your parents were very smart. Why would you want to believe in things that cannot be proven with verifiable, testable evidence? The fact that you want to "believe" in something proves that you don't know it exists--if you had knowledge of its existence, you would not need faith or belief.
Why do you think that humans needed gods to do everything for us? I guess you're one of those people who are convinced that humans are just not clever enough to have done certain imaginative things all on their own, such as build pyramids and invent agriculture, so they had to have had help from gods, immortal heroes, aliens, whatever. Yet, we are constantly inventing new things all the time--skyscrapers, microwave ovens, telecommunications systems, computer technology, medical advances and a million other things didn't get here because some deity dropped them into our laps. You have PROOF that humans can, and do, create wonderful things all the time. Scientists have a good idea of how civilization arose, based on archeological discoveries. No proof of any kind exists for some magical deity providing us with everything we now have. Honestly, I just can't figure out your reasoning.

First of all, congrats on being so enlightened so as to search for the Truth. Many people don't even think about such stuff. www.harunyahya.com is a good site to start with, as advised by another person. I being a Muslim can naturally offer you to accept Islam, and I'm all there if you need any questions or queries about Islam's beliefs.
By accepting Islam, you can satisfy yourself as well as your family. Everything the Quran says since the last 1400 years, is being validated by scientists today. I know there are many myths about Muslims, some go to that extent that Muslims are devil-worshippers :) but that's not true.
It's better that you buy yorself a copy of the holy Quran. It is the only Divine Book that has not been changed or modified since it was given to Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him), unlike all other Divine books of cianity or Judaism. If you don't believe me, just pick up a copy published even 500 years ago in some museum and check that for yourself, you'll not find a single modification in Arabic scripture.
The basic ideology of Islam is that "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger". I know a couple of persons who are irrational enought not to accept Islam even though they know that it's the true religion, saying that it's a difficult religion to practice. Naturally, doing good deeds, helping the needy and widows, praying five times a day and spreading His message in such a hostile world today is a difficult task. especially when there are a lot of myths related to Islam, spread by the non-Muslims.
If you need any help in pursuing the Truth, I'll try my best to convince you. And it'd be too easy for you to accept Islam and afterwards, too difficult to understand why the world is against such true religion as Islam.
Happy hunting! :)

First of all, you need to ask yourself WHY you believe in a god or immortal being. Unfortunately, "feeling" as if he/they exist does not make it true. Don't go shopping for a religion so haphazardly; that's a bad way to do it. You need to look at each religion separately and really pick it apart...look at their holy books and the evidence that they present and tick them off your list if they don't seem logical to you. Please don't buy into a delusion because you "like" it or it make you feel good. Go about it rationally and decide which religion makes sense (or if none of them do).
This is a process that will probably take a long time, but searching for a religion should take a while. It's very important. In the end, you might realize that no religions make sense.
Good luck!

You're on a journey. I suggest you pick a religion that gives you an allowance for mistakes and/or for changing your mind. Remember, this is a search.
People around you will say that theirs is the correct religion to follow, but ultimately it will be your call to decide which "religion" (read: religion, not spirituality) works best for you.
You'll also have to remember that you are making sacrifices for following a certain way of life. You'll also be disappointed in many ways by the religion and by the people who practice that religion you choose. Are you prepared for those? If not, keep searching. Good luck.

Study the three most popular religions. Islam , Buddha, and Christianity, see there similarities, but remember Christianity is not a Religion ,it set the Religious free. I personally have done this ,and Chose Christianity with no Denominational factors. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior and the Anointed Son of God, and Have been Baptized in the Holy Spirit.

First, and foremost.....follow the religion of your own heart. Because, no church or religion has it all "just right." You just have to pick the one closest to your own beliefs.
The one that I really am relating to, lately, is Catholicism. The whole premise of Catholicism, is to become as Christ-like as we possibly can.
However, I have also been thinking of trying the Episcopal church. Some call it "Catholic Lite".....as, it's a little more liberal in it's beliefs.
Another thing that I particularly like about the Catholic church, is that it was the original church....that all other denominations have sprang forth from. I found it to be more intellectually based, less emotional, than the Baptist church's I have been to.
Hope this helps. Just make your mind up for yourself, and follow that still small voice inside you.....it will lead you to where you need to be.
God Bless!

Please read the following article since it compares Christianity to different religions. If you want the biggest difference, it is summarized in this quote from Dr. Michael Green.
“Perhaps the greatest difference of all [among religious views] lies in the Christian assertion that none of us can save ourselves and make ourselves acceptable to God, try as we may: all the other faiths assert that by keeping their teachings a person will be saved, fulfilled or reborn.”
This is true. All other religions will teach you that to get to heaven you must do this and you must do that. In Christianity it is totally different. Unless you surrender your life to Jesus you cannot go to heaven since everyone is a sinner and not acceptable to God because of these sins.
It is only when admit we are sinners and we accept what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross that our sins are washed away and we become right with God again.
