Is there a reason why fruits are in general a round or round type shape?

The main purpose of plants having fruits is to reproduce. So fruits are generally round so that it will roll a longer distance when it's ripped and drop from the tree. This ensures that the fruit will have a higher chance of survival.

Because spheres have the least amount of surface area in relation to their internal volume.

Limiting surface area limits the opportunity for fungal spores to land and take hold. The plant gets to invest it's metabolic energy in making more durable, well nourished or well developed seeds instead of wasting the energy on a needlessly convoluted outer covering.

maybe cos they are all sac like structures with the goodies inside. it is just easier to code for (genetically) than take the effort of forming square/rectangular figures. we can make a bag like structure from any uniform plain fabric.
