Good vehicle, just keep up the maintenance. I'm a hardcore "Jeep Guy" and have nothing but good things to say. A 92 is old enough to have already had any of the typical Jeep problems occur and be repaired, so you should be good to go! Some people are biased against the YJ because of the square lights. But I'd rather have a square lighted Jeep than a lot of alternatives. Have fun - tread lightly!

I have a Jeep Wrangler. This is my third. I have never had a significant issue. Here are the good and bad as I see it:
Good:
The hold their value. I traded my 1997 Wranger with 120K miles, and got $6000 even with all the scratches, etc.
They hold up to minor collisions very well. I got hit twice in my last Wranger. No damage other than a scratch.
You sit high, so you can see where you are going.
Rain and snow – Not a problem for a Wranger. Go where no Nissan can follow!
Off road - What can I say, it is a Jeep!
Bad:
The convertible top offers no protection from noise. When some jerk is basting the bass next to you, zipping up the window will not help at all.
Bumps – You feel each and every one of them.
Road noise – Yup, you can hear those tires roaring down the road!

The seats in particular are impressive for while the Jeep handles bumps the rider is cradled and cushioned. The handle for the passenger is well used when we go off road. The ability to remove the cab cover is appreciated, we get to enjoy the world, not just view it. Also, you will find less wind Resistance and better power going topless. What I like best is how the front wheels are able to handle individual obstacles rather than a solid front axle which tips the vehicle away from the center. Its also very nice going slow and the speakers on the roll bar help you forget road noise. I drove a Jeep for six months in Nam, then bought a used '76 in 78; a used 2001 in 2003 and a new 2006 Unlimited Automatic this year with roll up windows. Heaven. I have the smallest, dirtiest truck on the road.

Those Jeep are okay! They are great for mods. All Jeeps really are. But the suspension for those year Jeeps (1987-1995) are eh, not that great. The rides on the TJ's are better. They went from Leaf spring to coil spring. You are getting a good Jeep! Stick with it! Gonna trade my 99 Wrangler in for 2007 Wrangler. They look and ride awesome!

As other kids dream about buying fancy cars I was dreaming to buy myself a Jeep, as soon as I had the money I got my dream car. I'm the proud owner of a 2003 Jeep Wrangler X. I love my Jeep. At this point the only thing that I could hope is for better gas millage, other then that I have no complain but don't ask my g/f she is so damn jealous of the car.

i have owned 3 jeep wranglers my current is a 1999 jeep wrangler tj sport. i love jeep wranglers and will always own one, in my opinion there are no bad things about them, you can take the the top off, the doors off, they come in hard top, sft top, to half doors. my first wrangler was a 1994 it had square head lights and i believe yours does to in fact i know it does because from 1987-1995 they came with square head lights. but in 1997 they switched back to the original round head lights.you will never see a 1996 jeep wrangler because jeep did not make any that year.people think jeeps tip over easy but they don't because in the late 80's they made a wider wheel base, and there not expensive to insure like people say. have fun with your jeep and just 1 thing have you noticed that other jeep wranglers drivers wave to eachother.

I also have a wrangler. I'm gonna knock on wood here before I say anything *hehe*. I have never had any problems with my jeep what-so-ever. The only money I've spent on my car is gas and the usual matience. The worst thing I can say about my Jeep is that it gets bad gas miliage, but that's to be expected for a SUV
