Why would we capitalize his name?

Satan is capitalized only in the English language...lol. Many languages do not have the concept of using Capitals as in English for one.. besides Satan is a proper noun and all names have their first letter in Caps. Why do we use Hitler, why not hitler? why do we call Saddam Husain and not sadam husain?
Besides, Satan is a low life alright, but he has no power over you or me to force us to do evil. He can offer us to do evil, but we LISTEN to him if we reverberate with his ideas within our own souls. Thus Satan can influence only those people who think like him or may find his offers attractive. Thus Satan is a sieve of God that separates the good from the bad.
Satan in fact helps good people by giving them blessings. If he makes a bad offer, and a good man refuses him, that good man has received a blessing from God.
So, the low life Satan helps the good by giving them blessings and brings the bad closer to him. Satan is a catalyst. He just helps the bad people to become what they are and the good people to become more good.

In the English language is it correct to capitalize a proper noun. Billy may be a real jerk, but it is grammatically incorrect to place a judgement in calling him billy.
Grammar in this sense does not judge morality. It is merely grammar and incorrect to not capitalize a proper noun.
If I named a town Dumpsville it is still capitalized, even if nobody likes it. Good luck on that English exam coming up!
ps. I do think 'john s' above me there has it wrong. Yes Satan is a powerful being and was considered the chief among angels, but there is no respect for him who rebelled against the Glory of God knowing full well what God is. If we can claim any respect for the devil it is a kind of cautious respect like walking wide of a rattle snake. It is not honorable respect in any sense of the word. Satan WAS chief among angels until he fell to the least by the weight of his own pride. He is most certainly the least in the cosmos.

What if all of the tomes of religion are really propaganda from an evil dictator called god. It talks about smiting down those that don’t believe. What if that heavenly dictatorship is really hindering us? If so, how can we tear down the Berlin wall in heaven? When will we make a march on the Tienanmen square in the clouds? If Satan is the nice one, and God is the one that inspired man to write the bible, how do we know that it is not propaganda? Satan never says that he is going to eternally damn your soul, its god that says that. Also in the bible, Satan never killed anyone, yet god boasts how he committed genocide on an entire planet with a flood. Satan never killed cute and innocent babies. God, on the other hand, inspired people to write how he was upset at the Egyptians so instead of killing them, he killed their innocent babies.
There is no proof that satan is evil except that of the word of a murderous and conceited god that can't even follow his own commandments.

lol i hada buddy of mine in Bible College who would never capitalize his name. I dunno, good question, i guess like anything else its up to you if you want to, but also at the same time be careful about talk like that about Satan and other demons, study Jude a little bit, perferably verses 9-11, from reading that it seems that God doesnt usually look favorably upon those who blaspheme against Satan. Sounds odd i know, but study it a bit. Thanks,

It is a proper name. He is the highest form of evil as well. I am not a fan of Satan but you know what they say "give the devil his due." Notice when you say the devil you don't have to capalize it? That is because it isn't his name.

you capitalize the name of lucifer bezlebub and any one lower than GOD because YOU choose whom too folly with and how you will spend less time with god
