I always thought "latino" was "latin" as in Italian ...from Italy. Mexicans and Italians are two completely cultures. Aren't Mexicans from Mexico and Latinos from Italy???
What gives??

uhm, nop italians are from Italy, and once again not everything down the border is Mexico so latino is also people from argentina , guatemala, cuba and so... we´re "latinoamericans" because we speak a language which comes from latin (spanish and portuguese) the other latinos are the ones in europe that also speak the romantic languages (Italian, Portuguese , spanish , french) English, rusian and other´s languages don´t come from latin but have latinized words (they derive from "anglo" a previos language from north europe) Being German a middle point.
Right now latino has more to do with culture than with the language you speak (actually the new spanglish is uncomprehensible in Mexico too) and has come nearer in meaning to "afro" in afroamerican altough it wasn´t mean that way. I could go deeper on this subject for hours but no time and not enough language skills yet.

The English word Latino derives form the Spanish word Latinoamericano and refers to inhabitants of Latin America, and their descendants living outside of Latin America.

Most people in Latin America consider "Latino" to be a cultured or a lifestyle rather than a racial term.

Lmao there are White people who act Mexican?!?!? in no way heard of that one in the previous! yet undergo in techniques Latino isn't a race besides. the 1st Latins have been White Europeans (Spaniards, Italians, Romanians, French) so how could a White guy or woman opt to be Latino whilst they'd, in certainty, somewhat BE Latino?

Latin is a dead language except within the Catholic Church and they use the vernacular mainly since Vatican II.
Anyway, your question...Mexico is a part of Latin America thus Latino.
Jamaicans and Bahamians are Latinos also.
Jesus God, I know it's stupid, but I sure as hell didn't invent these labels.
