AMEN! There are american terrorists too. You have a strong point of view. This is what everyone has been saying, "You can't fight something that isn't there." But m sister says, "You can fight the facts, you can fight what you can't see, but in the end, people will choose otherwise. You can't force people to change their ideas under a democracy, you can tell people what to think under a dictatorship." And if everybody hates wars, why do we put the word infront of everything we have a problem in?Can't we just try to help stop things, or help people on their feet maybe. All anyone really needs in this world is encouragement to do the right thing, but when people tell them that their ideas are wrong, you cross the line. There is a saying, "You know there is a line, but you don't know where it is until you've crossed it." This country crossed that line a long time ago.

Because it isn't against a country. It is against a hidden enemy that hides in various countries. The war is waged at all levels - diplomatic, propaganda, military, economic, etc. And it is against an enemy that has been at war with us for a couple of decades now, and who will never stop being at war with us.
We only figured out we were at war after 9/11. There is no end in sight on this, because there never will be an end. The only end would be to kill every muslim in the world, and we're not ready to go to that extreme just yet.
But your downplaying of the military aspect of the war is ingenuous. By attacking and successfully ousting terrorist regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, this gives other nations and people the knowledge it can be done, and done successfully in their own countries. It empowers those who oppose terrorism.
The sad thing is that people like you and the Dems want us to lose this war, all for the sake of partisan political power. The media for the most part are the Dems propaganda arm, and have done their utmost to undermine every aspect of our efforts. This support for our enemies gives them strength and succors them, and swells their ranks as they get the false feeling they are winning, thanks to you.
It's sad that so many people are so partisanly blind to the realities of the world, and to the people who would gladly saw their heads off for Allah.
[not too much vitriol, I hope, or the vitriol policeman Jim W will have a PMS fit again]

you are exactly right. And from what I understand, the new guy in place of Zarqauwii(?) is even more of a terrorist, and will bring people from Iran to fight the US troops. I think our president went into this war for his own personal gain, and lied to the public about it, and so our boys will continue dying fighting a cause that is unstoppable. I find it shameful, how many people need to die for our country when our country gains nothing? I smell another Vietnam.

A cancerous tumor isn't an organ, but there are still many ways it can be destroyed. You cut off it's blood supply, you bring in outside forces and mobilize your body's immune forces to destroy it, you remove it totally from the body, you attack the individual cells that make up the tumor and shrink it down to a manageable size, etc.
The same is true for terrorism. It is a cancerous tumor on this earth. You can cut it's funding and resourcing to destroy it. You bring in overwhelming forces to conquer it and mobilize the country's internal forces to subdue reoccurrences. Wherever possible, you remove it from the world completely. You certainly attack the individual "cells" which will shrink it down and make it less effective and lethal. If you keep the world aware and on guard, if another tumor tries to grow, you smack it down before it gets a foothold.
It is unlikely that either cancer nor terrorism will be totally eliminated from the world, but there are solutions in the war on cancer and terrorism that make the fight necessary and worthwhile for our ultimate survival and quality of life.

I think language is one of the greatest weapons of all time. I think we are feed these pre-digested molds to dump our emotions such as religions, politics that creates enemies and allies. But it is not REAL. It seems we are fighting these artificial issues. I can decide if there is a central conspiracy or if this is just human nature. I suspect that it is just the fact of being human but when people get in a tizzy about something like the Da Vinci Code you begin to wonder. "Doth the lady protests too much"

there is also no Palestine, yet they are fighting Isreal. But no they do not always involve territory (but mostly yes). You are right that we cannot win a war against terrorism, but we can always fight the leaders of it and removing the leaders suppresses it somewhat for a period of time until another leader emerges. It is a neverending battle, but it must be fought to ensure safety of the people.

The fact is that we are at war with a murderous lunatic cult known as Radical Islam. Terrorism is their cowardly tactic. The sooner we face this reality the better. You go ahead and try to feed these lunatics 'competing ideas'. Good luck.

The thing is you can't win. Every Muslim feels responsible if he didn't stop someone from killing his brothers. Unlike Christians, their religion demands them to act, have their revenge and not just forgive. you can invade their country's, kill their leaders but they wont stop. and a never-ending war is an excellent excuse for a bigger military budget.

welll people have bought inot the war on drugs and war on poverty.... but poverty and drugs are increasing
its scary for people to think taht there are things that they don't have control over...
its easier to believe that the governemnt is taking care of it.. there is a war on poverty so i don't have to do anything.... that kind of mentality
the truth is you can't win
you just have to do what you can

wake up and look around, the "terrorism idea" is waging war on us, for no reason other than we don't believe as they do or weren't born in the right area. do you think we should sit on our hands and let them blow up our buildings because you think there is no end in sight?
