DVD+r and DVD-r are almost the same. The difference is made by your DVD-Writer. Read his documentation to find out which he "prefers". DVD+rw can be written then erased and written again(just like a floppy disk), but are more expensive. And you don't need them for movies. So the answer is: DVD-r or DVD+r .My DVD-writer writes both of them ...

When DVD's forst appeared there were two formats for how the disk were made DRD+R and DVD-R. Once originally worked in DVD players and the other only in PCs. But since then both the DVD players and the PC makers have altered their drives to play both. So you may use either. Both the +R and tne -R can be burned to once, and then the files are permanent and can be changed, deleted, added, etc.
A DVD+RW is a re-writable DVD. Meaning that you can put files on, take them off, edit, them etc. As if the DVD were a giant 4.7 gig floppy disk. That is why the +RW's are more expensive. They are often used when created a DVD to do a test burn. That way if something isn't perfect you can reuse the disk. You haven't ruined a disk. Then once you have everything the way you want it, you use a -R or +R for the final burn.

DVD-R is the ideal disc for DVD video. Only use a -RW if you're doing a test burn. You CAN use +R/+RW, but some DVD players will reject them. I've created over 300 DVD videos, so I have some experience.
The best brands are: Maxell, Verbatim, TDK and Fuji.

I bought a spindle of 100 TDK DVD+R and so far none burnt films will play in DVD players, even my Bluray player. They all work in a PC.
I remembered some time ago that one sort was better than the other but forgot which type. Should have checked here first.

DVD-R and DVD-RW are for recording from PC's
DVD+R and DVD+RW are for recording from DVD recorders.
RW means you can delete anything you've recorded off the disc if you don't want it anymore.

It doesn't make any difference in choosing between those three. DVD's are meant for better quality and long lasting (depending on the company). The format in which u write the movie is important. If u write it in DVD format it will be of very good qulaity or go for .avi its also good....

+r or -r should show no real difference. Your drive probably is compatable with ONE of these formats, use the one that is compatable with your hardware.
+r and -r are not erasable and re-writable formats. +rw is a re-writable format.
If you are going toplay these DVD's on your computer, none of them should give you any problem. If you plan to play them on another (non-computer) DVD player - check your palyer's specifications to be sure that it can play whichever format you are using.
