It is OK to use your A/C anytime you want. Many people don,t know this but anytime you select 'DEFROST' the air conditioner compressor will cycle on/off providing it is in proper working order. Almost all cars today have electric engine cooling fans designed to cycle on and off when the car reaches a certain operating temperature or whenever the A/C button is pressed.

No, as a technician's answer to this question, it's best to use your air condition when possible even in cold weathers. Your air condition system basically relies on many seals and gaskets that must be lubricated often, and the only way to ciruclate the system is to run it. Gas mileage suffers, but I've had many customers come in that never use air conditioning years at a time, and when it's time to turn it on, they have a freon leak from a bad seal, or a frozen air conditioning compressor because it's been so long since they've used it.

It's not bad to use it. It's designed for a purpose, take advantage of the luxury.

Yes. Using the air conditioner too much, especially in hot weather, can overheat your engine.
