The North Korea has now several missiles(nuke) capable of reaching mainland US. The US on the other hand, has deployed ships/submarines to the pacific to shoot down these missiles. Likewise, some are suggesting a preemptive strike. This time it's a real threat, unlike Iraq that we thought has 'weapons of mass destruction'.

Nah possibility of a nuclear war with nations is slim but if a terrorist group were to get their hands on a nuke weapon then all bets are off. That's why Iran nuke program must be verifiable before they are allowed to have one - they sponsor terrorism (hezbollah, hamas, etc)

Yes we are on the brink of war again...but this time like you said it's a real threat. I've always considered North Korea more of a threat than Iraq but obviously the president doesn't. Remember way back after 9-11 when Bush proclaimed his "Axis of Evil" and North Korea was on it? How many people here were more afraid of N.K. than they were about Iran and Iraq? I think most people were. N.K. has been toeing the line the last couple of years and now it looks like they're going to cross it. Scary but true. With our troops overextended as it is, I don't know what's going to happen.

North Korea does not have a nuke capable missle at the present. They may have a long range missle (as yet untested) that might be able to reach the US' west coast. The do not have a nuke payload at present, and probably won't have one for some years.

We're nowhere near "on the brink" as of yet either with North Korea or Iran.

I think we are as close as we were a few times in the cold war, we have a nut case in the white house and they have a nut case with a finger on their button, if we survive 2 more years without a major strike against us it will be a miracle.
