It's EVIL! DEMONIC! SATANIC! JUST LIKE HAarrry POTER! EVIL! So is Pirates of the Carribean and Edward Scissorhead. Johnny Depp is the antichrist ever since 21 Jump Street. If you spell Johnny Depp backwards it is - PpedyNnhoj. That's just evil.

We watched it together, some of the music in it I didn't care for, and he acted way too "friendly" so to speak. I am not against Jonny Depp by any means, we loved the Pirates of the Caribbean but this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory one was just creepy. My kids like the old one better.

Mr. Depp is a little "out there" but it is still a good story on the 7 deadly sins. The new one is a little over the top compared to the original, but a good story none the less.
I don't think either of the movies were intended for young children.

I'm not christian but I thought it was a great commentary on parenting today. Did anybody check out the parenting styles of those people and how thier children responded to them. Food for thought. Most people I've mentioned it to never noticed. Watch it with that in mind. It answers the question why kids today are so bratty and ungrateful.

My family found it quite entertaining. Willie Wonka is an eccentric, so his actions can came across quite strange, but this was true in the original movie with Gene Wilder as well.
There are several good movie review sites (with a Christian perspective) online. Our family uses www.pluggedinonline.com. I would suggest you check it out there and decide for yourself if that is something for you and your family.

I don't like it, I don't agree with the way he acts, not even in like the Pirate movies he's in. Get the Veggie Tales video Rack Shack and Benny. And if your kids are too old for that, surely you can find another movies for them. Good luck.

my kids and I really enjoyed it. i thought the abused child scenes were a bit unnecessary to the story-line, but that was just my opinion and not anything religious. in the end, nothing will ever compare to gene wilders willy wonka!

...In some ways, the new 'Chocolate Factory,' is better, and in other ways the old one is better.

My gals love it.
But I have to tell them something is not right, and some thing is not real etc.
