my mother once told me she had written proof that she was distantly related to the queen of England, unfortunately this paper was lost in transition to our new home 40 years ago. I've always been sceptical of her statement but out of curiosity I would like to find out if it's true....how can I do this?

The LDS church or mormons also have family history libraries in many of their churches and it is free to use and they are very happy to help. This would be my first stop. Then get onto genesreunited with any info you have only costs £9.50. Using these and rootwebs I have managed to get back to the 1750's in just 6 months! Good Luck....oh and be aware of stories regarding Royalty..many are untrue..... I hope you are lucky though :)

You can also build your family tree and find relatives with Friends Reunited. There is a link on the site to Genes Reunited. I am building my family tree at the moment.

Check with the Mormon church on-line. They are great record keepers and have access to most public records. That is how my mother traced our family tree.
