If the colour of your room's wall is white then you can make combination of two colours like white walls and blue bedding/curtains or similarly with white and red or white and green. This will completely change the look of your room.

If you want to keep the maroon, paint your walls light mint green. You shouldn't have any trouble finding things to bring the two together with both colors and cream, scatter cushions for example. Floral paintings would also be easy to find in those colors. I think it would be lovely.

My room is all white and I like it like that. It's easier to redocorate because whatever I get matches the walls. I am always going to Wal-Mart and buying in-expensive curtains and Bed-In-A-Bag sets to change things up.

White with maroon sounds very rich and pretty. Try adding some plaids, or greens. That should go nicely.
