THERE'S NOTHING FORTUNATE OR UNFORTUNATE ABOUT NUMBERS. THEY ARE JUST SYMBOLS FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR NAME AND THAT IS FOR NUMBERING. NO MORE NO LESS.

FORTUNE is how you make your decisions in life. If you make wise decisions then you will end up fortunate. And it is true with the reverse.

LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT AND NOT HOW YOU NUMBER IT.

Because in 1307, King Philip IV of France wanted to seize the money and property of the Knights Templar. In one of the best coordinated mass arrests in history, every Templar in France was arrested on Friday, October 13, 1307. Since that time, Friday the 13th has been considered unlucky and the number 13 has been generalized into an unlucky number.

robert graves' book 'the white goddess' looks at the origins of the superstitions surrounding the number '13' (and lots of other pagan and magical beliefs).

graves' considered opinion is that whereas there are 12 solar months to the year there are 13 lunar months. (a year has 13 'new moons', giving a 13 * 28 364 day lunar year).

the lunar month from its proximity to the menstrual cycle (and its association with night and darkness) is felt to be feminine - and hence unlucky.

the solar month which is based on the sun and daytime is masculine, and lucky.

so twelve is a lucky number (signs of the zodiac, apostles, grail knights, pennies to a shilling, eggs to a dozen, semitones in the chromatic scale), and thirteen is an unlucky one.

Its just superstition. I dont know where the fear of 13 being so unlucky originally came from, but for me personally, its my lucky number :)

Its followed me throughout my life.... live at no 13, used to live at 58 (5+8=13) my mum used to live at number 85, and a number 14....

So it just depends on whether or not you believe in superstition
