Is you last name "Whirl"? Do you know anyone with the last name "Whirl"?

This is my last name and I know no one but my immediate family that shares it. I want to eventaully conduct some geneological research, but have no idea where to begin. Hopefully, if I can find some people with the same last name, some information about them combined with what I know about me will lead me to some understanding. Thanks.
