I once experienced just exactly the same problem. I'd tried meditation but it's useless (actually I couldnt conduct a deep concentration in the meditation. That's the problem anyway..)
But then I found better ways:
1. if you want to memorize something, try to make it funny/enjoyable. I usually succeed with making a story with it, or imagine it as a moving pictures while I still try to make a them related one by one in a strange story, or make a song with it! Try it please.. It'll work!
2. make sure that you eat adequate nutrition, especially carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Don't do a too-thight-diet program. It really disturbs your brain. Do a step by step diet, maximum 1 kg loss every week (I'm serious).
3. also make sure that you always have enough sleep. No less than 6 hours but no more than 7 hours. Lack of sleep makes you sleepy and low memory power, while exessive sleep makes you lazy and do not want to memorize anything.
4. if you have done all tricks but still suffering, try coffein. Drink a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy the day it brings.

Good luck
Greetings from Indonesia

Take a garland of beads.Every day either in the morning or evening,at a convenient time sit in a closed room with proper ventillation.Sit erect.Rotate the garland by using one hand and count the beads by the mind.Even lips should not move.Do this for around 10 minutes every day and slowly increase the duration to 30 minutes.Write the total numbers counted at the conclusion of the session. You would soon get the power of concentration. You also study the number for 10 minutes,15 minutes and 20 minutes and see whether there is any marked change or uniformity in the conuted numbers.

Omega 3 and 6 fish oils are great.

Also, trying getting good amounts of sleep every night, and not trying too hard to look over things.

Take studying slowly, in "manageable bitesize chunks" to quote the BBC.... (www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize)

Don't revise solid for ages and ages, you won't remember anything. Break it up with other things.

Finally, don't cram all revision into one night, the night before an exam is NOT the best time, as your nerves will already be high enough.
