it's called a tripod stand. it has 3 legs. dishes containing some stuff is placed over it while below it is the burner. between the dish and the tripod stand a gauze wire is kept.

It is used in conjunciton with a gauze mat, to place a beaker etc. over a bunsen burner. Three legs, hence tripod.
