till they die

I personally have had 3 cats die when they were 16 years old. They were indoor - outdoor cats. If you listen to most people, they will never live this long if they go outdoors. Last year there was an article in my local newspaper about a cat that was 26 years old, it was blind and on dialysis, but that is the oldest cat I've heard of.

I have a friend whose cat was an outdoor cat that just died at 20 years old.

The average lifespan of an outdoor-only cat is about 3 to 5 years while an indoor-only cat can live 16 years or much longer.

I had a white Persian cat that lived to be 17. Good health until the end. He was allowed to go outside. Now the thinking is to have all cats live in-doors because of all the diseases they could pick up from feral cats, not to mention getting hit by a car.
I have another Persian now. He lives inside and I feed him Purina dry catfood for inside cats.(in the green bag). He is thriving and not getting over weight as many neutered males usually do.
