All you need to complete the Dorothy look is a frilly white apron and a little basket with maybe a soft toy dog in it.

Just have your daughter wear a pretty dress and then just put a lap apron over the top... and then accessorise with the basket and toy dog.

If she has an old pair of running shoes that still fit, then buy some red sequins and stick them all of the shoes turning them into ruby slippers.

The key to good fancy dress is to accessorise and Dorothy is an easy one to go for!

I hope she looks like a little angel and enjoys her walk.

Look for a blue gingham dress (charity shop would be a good bet). If you can't find a dress go for a blue checked top and some neutral shorts. Then she'll need a basket and a stuffed dog (toto) to carry and don't forget to pick up some red trainers (keds are usually pretty inexpensive and come in a variety of colours). Put her hair in braids and there you go...Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

Good luck and have fun!

www.wonderlandparty.co.uk has some reasonably priced costumes if you can talk her into being the good witch in the film. She could buy a fairy outfit then.

www.fancydress-costumes.co.uk have an outfit £17.99 + P&P. Available age 3 up to 10.

Seems like an awful lot of money for a SPONSORED WALK. Your money would be put to better use given to the charity but people who organise these things do not realise the cost of such outfits. My childrens school regularly dress up and when you have two children you are talking in the region of £20-30!!

Good luck for the walk

You only need a gingham dress (As I remember dorothy anyway)

Try looking in charity shops :)

Go to charity shops. don't pay the prices in costume stores. You can pick up some wicked outfits in charity shops for just a couple of quid! I've got 2 children which I dress up and every one always compliments me at parties for our children having excellent costumes! (and you can give money to charity at the same time!!!)

A gingham dress with white blouse underneath, pigtails and red shoes should do it. Make sure the shoes will be comfortable enough for her to complete the walk in.
