...my cat being lost but i find it behind a wardrobe in a castle. i do have to do it in french though.

Go for it.
The important thing of a story is not so much about the topic, but how you write about it.
Choose a gender, mistery, comedy....and that will make the difference.
It doesn't matter if you have to do it in French(I assume you know a bit already). Write it first in your own language, and then try to translate it into French, maybe that way is easier for you.

why not be creative and use your own originality? castle?... sounds like j.k rowling beat you to it... wardrobe? narnia already did that... dont be like dan brown...
