Hello! Jello-Shot queen here! 1st off use sugar-free jello.
Choose your liquor. I've made them with, Spiced Rum, Vodka, Whiskey & Tequilla. 1 small box of jello will make 15 2oz. servings. Use those 2oz. souffle cups. ( you can buy them at any party store or resturant supply store.) Mix 1 box w/ 1 cup of boiling water. Stir and dissolve good. Add 1 cup booze. Stir. Pour into cups and chill. Yum! My favorites are Tequilla and Lime jello, Cherry and Spiced Rum, or Black Cherry w/ Vodka.
"Don't forget, "Use Sugar-Free Jello". Have fun, and DO NOT SERVE TO MINERS! You'll be the hit at every party if you bring some of these along.

To me this is the first and most important thing. Use little PAPER cups (found in bar supply stores) NOT the hard plastic ones!!! Those are a pain in the butt to get out. Usually have to take a tooth pick and swirl around the inside of cup to loosen jello and 9 out of 10 times it still doesnt work and then when the customer goes to "shoot" it it becomes a real mess.
Use VODKA!!!! Don't use any other liquor (maybe a light rum) but with all the different flavors that vodka is now available in you can basically make any flavor you want and combining the flavor vodka with whatever flavor jello - the combinations are endless. Make sure that in order it get the proper set up of the jello DONT add more alcohol than the 1 cup to 1 cup ratio of hot water and liquor. They will be potent enough (trust me) and set up perfectly. Do not fill cups to the top. Make sure you have all the cups arranged on a tray before you poor in the "liquid jello" and cover with Saran Wrap (or equivalent) so there is no "Jello Skin" on the top. Also, whats fun is if you get clear gelatin and put a few drops of food coloring in for a theme party. Sport team colors, (World Series , Superbowl, Stanley Cup) red white & blue ( 4th July) yellow green purple( Mardi Gras) etc. If you want some of the things I have done E-mail me and maybe I can make a few suggestions.

If you like a bit of alcohol with your Jello Shot use this recipe:
1 6 oz box of jello
2 cups hot water
7/8 cup alcohol
you can use any kind of alcohol that sounds good to you. Here are some ideas:
green apple jello (if you can find it, it was discoed by Kraft.) and wild apple vodka
Gin and Lime Jello
Tequila and Lime or Lemon Jello
Light Rum and Berry (Strawberry especially)
Vodka works in any flavor (Blue Jello is cool, so is watermelon)
Use peach Jello and sub Hot OJ for water and use Vodka...YUM
Use Cranberry Jello, Hot Cranberry Juice. Get some dried cranberries and soak them in vodka over night. This turns the vodka a nice red and very flavorful. Then you use the vodka in the jello shot and you can put a few cranberries in the Jello Shot. Way Yum.
So many ways to go....visit my site at www.jelloshotz.com
I personally like the little plastic jello shot cups better than the paper ones. Once you have used a toothpick a couple times you get the hang of it, it works like a charm.
Also you can use Jello or Cake molds to have some fun. I used ice cube trays to make a flag for 4th of July last year.

stay away from whiskeys and rums, use vodkas or gins, and when mixing like if it says "use one cup of hot boiling water and add one cold cup" only add half a cup of booze and other half cold water to make it taste good, go 1/4th booze and 3/4's water, add it should come out tasting yummy

Use Gem Clear for one of the water portions.
This is more than enough alcohol.. also you can't taste it.
