If you were a teenager, then McDonalds might be ok - but since you are age 21, why not ask the young lady if she has a favorite place to go?
You could also ask your other friends where do they take their dates when they go out.
If you don't have "deep pockets", then try finding a diner which is more in your price range but a diner that is not considered a dive.
One idea is to check yahoo travel for your location, and find out what places yahoo suggests - and people usually put comments - on places to eat and why they enjoyed going to that particular place.
Good Luck!

OMG, you are not serious right??
Take her to an nice Italian restaurant, it often doesn't cost a great deal more than going to McDonalds but is way less tacky!
Maybe if you were going to watch a movie together then a quite bite to eat at McDonalds wouldn't be so cheesy but if it is dinner date then, for goodness sake, have a bit of style!

If a lack of money is the issue try making some sandwiches, get some fresh fruit , fruit juices and/or soda,& something sweet ( ie. nanimo bars or brownies, women love their chocolate). Put it all in a picnic basket. You could also do wine instead of the soda and juice. Don't forget a blanket. Find a nice romantic place to have a picnic. Try under a weeping willow. She'll love it! Or invite her over for a BBQ. Most women love a man who can cook. Best of luck.

Man where is your romantisism. You don't ake a girl out to M.d's on a first date. What romeo and Julliet did you read? Julliet dumped romeo's as*. Listen it's not about the money. If you don't have any improvise. It doesn't mean robbing the liquor store. Prepare something at home. It's summer now take her to a nice spot outside - somewhere you can over look the city in peace. Remember it's always QUALITY not QUANTITY.

you can go and eat by yourself if you like but it's NOT OK to bring a girl on a date there - she'll think you're just a bug kid or that you're broke...try taking her to the movies or a nice restaurant...everything is better than McDonald's for dates

I wouldn't be impressed with a date at McDonalds, it would only last 20 mins tops!
I would be impressed by a picnic and a walk, nice and quiet to talk and relaxed so you can wear your jeans.

I think it's a good idea especially since you are a clown like Ronald and most of the girls you go out with have slept around before so you don't want to spend too much on them. If you don't want Mcd's maybe she could meet your family.....nu stick to McD's.

McDonald's is High school and jr high dates. If you want to impress her take her to a resturant that serves drinks and appears more adult. A place that don't serve kiddie meals also.
