Hey Congratulations. I myself leave for USAF BMT August 1st, 2006. I will be seeing you a week later I guess. I have done a whole lot of research on the Air Force, and lifestyles and such. It seems to be an awesome program to go into, as long as yyou don't mind always being under other people's command, but you will get that with any branch. You made a smart decision, but remember, the USAF is not right for everyone, you will determine that maybe within your first year to year and a half. I am also DEP commander for my unit in Eastpointe, MI. If you need to know ANYTHING about the Air Force, contact me, and I guarantee I will get you an honest answer. Til then, I'll probably see your Rainbow Flight at Lackland when you get there.

Just got out of the Air Force yesterday. It depends on whether you will enjoy the job that you signed up for. Keep in mind every job in the AF has it's B.S that goes along with it. One point of advice I would give you is to only sign-up for 4 years to start. Just incase you don't like it, and your not stuck with them for another 2 years. There is always an opportunity to re-enilst when your 4 years are up, and you get the opportunity to pick your next base of preference or retrain into a different career-field earlier than if you signed up for six. The only draw-back in not signing up for 6 years is that you will have to wait a little longer to advance in rank.
Good Luck and keep a good attitude even if you dont like your job, it will only make it worse!!!

Little late to have 2nd thoughts!
Well, I was in the Navy...and different people will give you different answers... it is a matter of perspective.
Some who are full of some egotistical desire to carry a big gun around and be the tough guy will be claiming marines and army.
If you like quality of the job and the training, you go with the navy or af.
If you like quality of life...you picked the best service. It is still a tough job, don't get me wrong, but the AF really takes care of their own, from what I hear. All the services do, but I think you made the best choice, and in fact, I have recommended to others that the af is probably the best service.
ps: don't forget to sign up for the GI bill in boot camp.
Best of luck to ya!!
