John Logie BAIRD (Scottish I think) invented mechanical TV.
Baird's electromechanical system consisted of a light sensitive camera behind a rotating disc. It delivered a crude picture consisting of thirty lines at twelve frames per second to a television receiver that displayed an uneven and tiny orange and black image.
The Japanese say the honour of the first working electronic television system goes to Kenjito TAKAYANAGI of Tokyo. He was the first to use a cathode-ray tube to transmit an image of Japanese writing. Japan now honours Mr. Takayanagi as the true inventor of TV. (ie. Electronic rather than mechanical)
