I don't mean sins that are clearly covered in the Bible. In this case, I mean taking karate. How do I know God wants me to pursue it? Before you say, "Um, why would God care if you take Karate?! That's the dumbest thing I've ever read," I believe God has a certain plan for each of us...a certain life partner, job, place to live, friends, dream to fulfill. If you keep meeting (seemingly insurmountable) frustrations, could that be God saying, "Don't do this"?

I'm particularly interested in a Christian perspective. Thanks.

Maybe I should clarify, it's not about karate, per se, but about how do you know when God is trying to tell you something and what that something is? Sometimes God's will is very clear. Other times not.

I think you should pray about it and ask god for help on what you should do. Take time and listen to what He has to say. The more you pray about it, the better outcome I think you will have.
Good Luck and God Bless

Well do you feel that karate is wrong? if not,

Does karate make you happy?

Is your Karate going to be used in a bad evil way?

I would really pray about it and the more you read the bible and do what is in it, and get saved, God will put it in your heart if it is right for you or not...

Remember what right for some people might not be what God want you to do...

It's not God saying "Don't do this", but a real person who IS successful not wanting him/her to cut you in on their success. It's greed and power that fuels the "God" in human nature.

If you really want to know God's will, lay out a fleece.
