is your nan your grandmom? if so he's your great uncle. well, it is always sad when someone dies. maybe you feel sad because you see how sad it is making your family.
I hope you feel better soon. My dad just passed away in May, so I know what your family is going through.

He's your uncle and it's perfectly okay to be upset about it. You're probably feeling regret that you never got to meet him and are sad because of that fact. You could also be sad because other members of your family are sad - this is called empathy, which means that you are feeling other's emotions as if they are your own.
It could also be that this is your first experience with death and/or you are old enough to understand what it means. Whatever it is, though, it's perfectly normal. Death is very hard to deal with, especially if you've never had to really deal with it before and be assured you that will have to deal with it again in life, many times. Probably not again really soon - it could be years and years and years and years before you have to experience the pain and loss associated with death again, but realize now that it is an inevitibility that a person will always have to face a more than a few times in life.
It sucks. I know. My father died 6 and a half years ago and it's been almost 4 since my friend Rich died. It's not easy, but over time you will heal and feel okay again. I promise. :)

great uncle, and no reason to be upset since you didn't know him, but normal to feel sad.

There's no way you "should" feel. If his death upsets you, then it upsets you. Deal with the grief and move on.
