I've been trying to do sit ups and crunches as part of my exercise routine, but i can't get past 10 without horrible debilitating back pain.

You need to keep your lower back on the floor and do crunches. Keep your knees bent. This is the safest way to work abs.

Alternative to doing crunches on the floor is to work your abs standing up. You can stand straight and then tuck the tailbone under and release. Or, stand straight, tuck tailbone and in that position move the upper body side to side. Keep knees bent and lower body stationary.

Your posture maybe wrong or you are trying to do it too fast try doing it at a slow pace .....Right posture is important to prevent permanent back injury ...Consult a doctor in casepainstill persists

You need to buy the AB LOUNGE it works well on my back and don't forget to mention it helps you lose weight too::::I hope your back gets better..

try doing the leg raise. you lie on your back and raise both legs repetitively. this will give your abs a good work out.

if you do them right you shouldn't be having back pain

use an excercise ball
