I don't have any children, but I remember the first time I went to see a movie. I was 3 and all I really remember was that before the movie was over I said to my parents "You can turn off the big TV, I"m sleepy." My mother still reminds me of that whenever we go to a movie. that was 34 years ago and I don't remember what the movie was or anything else.

I have been taking my sons to the drive in every summer since they have been born, so now at 5 years and 22 months they will sit through the movies. And really always have, because they are used to it. My 5 year old first went to a theater when he was 2. It did not go well, he wanted to crawl up and down the steps barking like a dog, and would not sit for very long. So we didn't try it again until he was 4. Much better. We have yet to take my 22 month old!

I first took my child to see the jungle book 2, he was like 4 months old and love every minute of it but we didn't take him to another movie until he was 3. He saw Chicken Little. He did great. Sat most of the time but did get up and walk between me and my husband. My husband took him to see cars the other day and he was fantastic.
It is a lot for a child that age to sit and watch a movie, the attention span isn't that long. Every child is different, sounds to me like you have a good child just like I do. Keep taking him to the movies(when there are one good for children), you will make it thru it. Take him to an early one that way you are able to get a nap in before dinner and maybe he won't be so difficult the rest of the night.

I took my two year old to see Piglet's Big Movie. He loved it, and after the movie, when the credits were rolling, he didn't understand why I wasn't turning the "TV" off. So I explained to him about the projector, and then we had to walk up to the back of the theater to take a look at the projection window, and then we had to try out each row of seats on the way back down.
My second child was born a few months after that, so she went along to the movies sleeping in her infant carrier or stroller. I think Finding Nemo was her first, and she slept right through.

My son was a few days old when we first took him to a movie. My husband had to deploy a week after his birth... so we went out on dates with our son the whole week before saying goodbye. Our son slept through the whole movie... because he nursed in the dark the whole time... he-he... He's now 20 months and we don't plan on taking him to the theatre any time soon... he won't sit still, wants to walk up and down the stairs, and likes to flirt with any women that are seated next to or behind us... the only movie he will actually sit through is Monsters Inc. But only if it's at home with his plush dog... :-)
