Medicines are far more likely to cause irreversible damage to the baby, such as liver damage, etc.
In many cases, the dangers are unclear and it is only once the baby is born that you find out what damage was done.
Basically, stay away from any medicine that is not known to be safe in pregnancy!

the only thing that my doctor said is safe to take are tylonal and ephedra, nothing else.
of course I had to stop all perscription medication, but also couldn't use vics vapor rub baby last week when I had a chest cold and I cant use my noxiema or proactive facewash because it can harm the baby. some lotions are even dangerous.
it it goes in your mouth or on your skin it could be something that hurts the baby
when it doubt call your local 24hour rite aid and ask a pharmicist they will be able to look it up, you can also look many medications up on www.safefetus.com

There are many medications that can cause fetal damage. Please speak to your OB/GYN before taking any medication whatsoever.
