For your question "Given global warming is here to stay” First I must say that we as a human race have not caused global warming it is a trend that has been occurring since the beginning of time. CO2 is supposed to be a big contributor to global warming (cars, factories ext..) During the last ice age it was determined that the level of CO2 was higher than now. Did we cause that?
To you question the best way to cool the earth would be to block out the sun let off a couple of nukes in some volcanoes that should spew enough stuff in the air to block out the sun for a few years which should cool the earth.

Any changes in the earths orbit would destroy all life on this planet, it would either become far too hot or far too cold, the natural balance of things would be off, gravity would change, tides, weather etc etc... The only way to stop or slow down the global warming process is for all human beings to STOP polluting the planet! Think that will actually happen??? NOT!
Its only a matter of time.... more and more people plus most of them continuing to pollute our world... yeah its a given, an end will happen because of it! When exactly? Who knows??? All any of us can hope for so far as the survival of the human race is concerned, is that if anyone does manage to continue on at that point, that they're be intelligent enough not to repeat the same mistakes! My guess would be though, that wouldn't be likely either.

The rampant overuse of natural resources specially in the developed nations is a major cause for global warming. For example; "what is the need for keeping the airconditioning and lighting on in multistoried and all office complexes in these nations throughout the day for 24 hours, 365 days a year when there is hardly anyone using these facilities beyond 9 hours max on any given day". The same is the situation with the blatant use of the automobiles; drivers keep their engines idling for 20 minutes or more in parking lots without having a second thought about the collosal waste of natural resources and subsequent effects of pollution. It is a pitiable state of affairs and boils down to the "attitudes" of people in the so called developed worlds who tend to take everything for granted.

The things the average person can do is turn off lights you're not using, use bicycles or walk as much as possible, ride the bus, plant trees, get a hybrid car or at least a 4 cylender. Someone said this is a natural cycle: maybe, but why make it worse? If the climate changes, it won't be any easier to live in whether we did it or not. The NE will still flood, the west will still turn into desert, UK is supposed to turn temperate, actually. Can it hold 6 billion people?

Widening Earth's orbit wouldn't help because you have to understand how the Earth is heated. Electromagnetics heat up the Earth. It works kind of like this:
The Sun has a massive galactic current passing over it, which heats it up like the filament in a light bulb. Right now it's accepted (and I don't know why) that the Sun is undergoing fusion in the core, but problems with the current model of the sun as continuous fusion reaction are:
Missing neutrinos
Temperature of the halo-like corona is 300 times that of surface
Rotates faster at equator, faster on surface
Solar wind accelerates upon leaving the Sun
Sunspots reveal cooler interior
Sunspots travel faster than surrounding surface
Sunspot penumbra (interior walls) reveal structured filaments
So the Sun is an electrically charged body, with a powerful magnetic field, and we are a similarly charged body spinning around in this magnetic field. When the galactic current feeding the Sun gets stronger, the current that's being fed through the Earth causing us to spin grows stronger too. The resistivity of these currents passing through our planet causes it to heat up, just like the filament in a light bulb too.
This is why our polar ice caps are melting so much faster recently and why the oceans are getting way too hot way too fast, too. They're literally heating up from the ocean floor up. All the underwater volcanoes coming to life are showing us this, too.
So is there a way to cool off the Earth? Yep, but I think somebody already played that card a long, long time ago and made our ice caps. It tilted the Earth off its axis, too. Imagine massive hurricanes over our poles, and just like hurricanes cool the piles of water they suck up underneath them these hurricanes were so massive and were sucking so much energy off the Earth it made the ice caps. That was the only time that would happen though.
All you can do now is have faith in God.

Global warming is a farce. Back in the 70's "leading scientists" created hysteria about "global cooling" They warned about the next ice age and how it was only a matter of time before the glaciers returned. No one has a clue as to what effects global change. Want to cool the earth? Leave your refrigerator open.

firstly, fridges are a big contributor to global warming, when they get thrown on the tip the substance in those pipes on the back leaks out and that is a big contributor to the hole in the ozone layer.
cooling the earth would involve repopulating the hole with more ozone, but it would have to be correctly applied, and that is a massive task. ozone is not good for humans.
you would have to consider heat sinks and carbon reclamation way before shifting the planet.
either way you look at it, it took 6 billion people hundreds of years to make this situation, it is going to take a MASSIVE effort to fix it.
and many people believe it is already too late.
the only thing we can do is buy ourselves more time, and move to the hills.

If you want to cool the planet, you must first stop producing the carbon monoxide machines that everyone thinks they should own.
When China gets their act in gear the carbon monoxide machines will be tripled in a big hurry. Their oil consumption is increasing in an unbelievable rate as we speak.
We need to use solar powered vehicles instead, and also design them to be anti-gravity as well, so that highways and parking lots can be turned back to grass, which will help cool down mother earth.
We can use the oil reserves to build prefab housing units of plastic which can be setup as needed and taken down and stored. high rise condos with commercial lower levels would centralize your living needs so as to let the rural areas go back to farm and forest.
Do a major tree replanting program, as that is required to help replenish the breathable atmosphere and reduce most of our respiratory illnesses. That too would cool the planet down. Quit cutting trees for profit, that would also be a big help.
Be humane to all living things, and bring about global harmony.

Global Tempeture Changes have been around since before man started into the industrial revolution. And they will continue to occor. MAN DID NOT CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING! global warming and global cool are natual processes and reguardless of what people do nature will naturally correct itself. Also understand that just because man is smart enough to understand his surroundings doesn't mean that he is taken out of the food change, the theory of evolution, or the circle of life. we are still animals living on the earth. and natural will corrent for all of its own changes.

TRY ALOT OF COLD WATER HAHAHA LOL !! ANYWAYS, the earth i believe needs heat too. The plants need heat for some them to grow right? The animals need heat cause if not they would all stay cold and would freeze to death in some parts of the states where it is very cold in the winters like: Colorado, Pennslyvannia and Illinois and there are other too. We need warm weather just like we need cold . THINK ABOUT OK. The rain comes and the rain goes and it cools stuff off too , like the roads our cars, and even us when we get around it right? !! God done everything for a purpose let's not try to fix it . I am sure he knew what he was doing when he did it !!
