If one was to go to heaven, but the person you were married to and loved very much went to hell. Are you allowed to choose hell? Can you go to visit them? Can you work out a deal with god where you swich places with the one you love? Could you work it out so that you both end up in some sort of inbetween place?

Alright. It seems most people are saying no. But isn't heaven suposed to be a happy place? What if you can't be happy without the person you love? And if your stuck once your in heaven, and you don't like it...how is it any better then hell?

Does everyone get a frontal lobotomy in heaven so they can't think anymore, that way then don't miss their loved ones?

Also, I'm Shinto so this question has nothing to do with me personally, I was just wondering for the information.

From what I understand, your destiny your own, if you go to heaven and your partner doesn't, I don't think you have a choice. Kind of a strange reward, heaven is, because what good is eternal life without the one you love? In God's law, everyone for themselves, salvation can only save YOU, it's not a coupon, or an invite-a-guest opportunity. I suggest you try and get the one you love to get saved so you both can go to heaven. And from what I understand, hell is not an eternal damnation, but a 1 time punishment, but very horrible. So you probably won't be able to visit someone in hell, because they will be dead. Often it's taught that you will burn in hell forever, but if you read the book of revelation, it talks about the great tribulation, and states that people who aren't saved will be cast into the lake of fire, and many times though the bible it says people who disobey God's law will DIE.

Hi. The only way you can choose hell is to not be saved. In other words, if you do not ask Jesus to come into your life to be your savior. If you don't do this, you will go to hell.
I have heard different things about this. Some people say if you are saved you are always saved. Then other people say if you are saved and then turn from God, then you are not saved.
I know you have to believe what the bible says on this, and not what people say. But I'm not sure myself.
If you are in heaven you do not go to hell, you do not visit. You do not work out deals with God. You are either saved and going to heaven, or you are not saved and are going to hell.
There is no in between place.
You can not switch places with another person. What if that person is not saved? They can not go to heaven.

No, once you are dead you are judged according to whether or not you have a relationship with Jesus Christ or not. There is no working out deals and there are no inbetween places. If you are married to someone who is not saved then do whatever you have to do to convince them that they need to have a relationship with Jesus too so you both go to heaven. If you aren't sure how to do that then at least get them to talk to a Christian pastor or minister who can. Did you watch the movie "What Dreams May Come" or something? What you are asking is kind of what happens to the characters in that movie. There are some really weird ideas out there of what happens when you die. The truth of it is in the Bible. I recommend starting with books like Romans and Corinthians for answers to a lot of questions.

Were you watching "What dreams may come" with Robin Williams?

I won't pretend to know that answer to your question for certain, but here is my two cents. I can't see why people in heaven couldn't visit hell. But why would anyone want to? Even for a loved one, you have to realize that hell is a horror beyond on imagination. Wanting to go to hell is like wanting to go to McDonalds because you like how the hot coffee burns you when you spill it on yourself.

I would be more inclined to believe in somekind of temporary relief from hell for visitation. This is just like the Ancient Greek legend of Castor and Polydesseus (Sp?). They were both born as humans, and became friends and great heroes. Sadly, only Polydessues was granted admitance into Olympus (Greek God heaven). Polydessues regreted leaving Castor so much that he requested to spend every other day in Hades (hell) with Castor. Zues (King of Gods) decided that both Castor and Polydesseus would live on Olympus one day and spend the next day in Hades. Eternally alternating between places.

SO, short answer? Well there is no short answer sorry. God is merciful but just. Have faith things would work out for the best because really, thats all you could do.

Well, first of all you're getting a lot of, Heaven or Hell, your choice answers. Which is true...although as a "lapsed" Catholic, I do believe in Purgatory(I know, the horror), but even then it is for the saved...
With all that being said, I have wondered what you're wondering many times. I don't know what I would do without my husband...he is the world to me. My "heaven" would not be a happy place without him...or would it? I honestly don't know...but I would like to think(and this is just me thinking) that if you truly love someone...and mean LOVE someone, would die for someone...maybe, just maybe, God would have mercy. God is every emotion...wrath, jealousy, envy, kindness, virtue, mercy...He is everything...but is He so merciful that he would "strike" a deal? I have no idea, but I would like to think so...just because, even as I type this, the thought of my husband and I going to "different" places is hard to think about.
My husband and I are "saved"...but sometimes I wonder...just because I'm human, and we all "worry". I personally would think that God is caring enough for love to be eternal...and that true love can conquer all. But again...I honestly don't know.

If God really is just, and heaven is a place for you to be happy, I believe God has a way for you to see those you love. That and I like to think of hell as a place to learn of God and his love, they won't be there forever. Kinda radical and I'm sure the extremist Christians will call me blaphemous, but oh well

I'm sorry, hun. There's no in between place. The two cannot be intertwined. It's like this. Say you stole a laptop computer. You go to jail for the crime, but they give you the laptop because you're remorseful. It doesn't work that way. Sure, you can choose hell simply by not believing in Jesus. But God knows your heart. Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.

No to all.

The thing with marriage is "to death do us part," so after you die, you are no longer married. This is why you can remarry if your spouse dies.

You cannot choose hell any more than you could choose heaven after death - you made your choice on Earth.

You cannot visit hell or switch places. That would defeat the purpose of heaven and hell.

There is no in-between place. There's heaven and hell, and each gets what he or she deserves.

Hope that answers your questions...

Don't REALLY know, but in the BIBLE, where it talk's bout Abraham's Bosom, I think it say's that there was a Great Gulf between Hell and Paradise----I will have to get my BIBLE out and reread it closly, something in there bout' that. Curious---
no, I don't think YOU can visit, cause you'll be in HEAVEN, and yes, you chose Hell automatically when you don't get SAVED (Born-Again) and leave the EARTH for GOOD.
JESUS has to be your SAVIOUR(cause HE's the ONLY ONE) befor you leave EARTH for good.
I think you can Blow-It in HEAVEN, Satan did, but I think it would be very hard to-----up there, your LOVE for GOD increase's so much that I think it would be very very hard to lose it (HEAVEN).
JUST make SURE BOTH of YOU and your FAMILY are SAVED befor any of you leave, and ALL WILL BE WELL!!!!!!! Hope this helps!!!

From the Christian point of view - no. You're out of luck. That is why it is so important to convert your loved ones to Christianity.

From MY point of view - don't worry about it. If you both have faith that there is a higher power in control of life, the universe and everything, I believe your souls will transcend, in death, beyond the living world and into the next. What that world is is beyond my knowledge, but I do believe that there is life for the soul after our bodies stop working. I really don't even think you HAVE to believe anything or have faith in anything, but if you do - your life on Earth will be a lot less stressful and it will be easier for you to find happiness and peace.

God created us knowing all the things we would do - it is illogical to think that he would condemn us for doing all the things he knew we were going to do. I don't want to believe in a god that does that.
