take plastic-sandwich-bags, put some cocoa-powder in them, tie them with ribbons or shiny colored twistie-ties. put them in a small gift box. this is the best bday gift its delicious, thoughtful, personal, delicious and unique. its perfect (trust me!)

If he has a hobby , a gift to add to it .He'll enjoy it being personal and realize you noticed .Especially if you don't care for his hobby but searched to find something to add to it . My guy didn't have a hobby , but I knew what type of movies he enjoyed , so I bought him a sword , he not only was happy , it's all he talked about for a long time , and still tells people I have a sword that is like the one in brave heart .

Dresss up well in a baby doll suit and spring out of a cake.... ok that is a bit too forward . i think even if you give him a peck on the cheek it should say i love you in a much better way than giving him a Rolls royce.

Of course you know his likes and dislikes.....Where did you meet? Go back there, like if it were a restaurant,or a show, if its possible.....Make him his favorite dinner. Write him a poem. don't make it a book, he'll lose interest....Take him to a sport game of his liking, your treat! ETC.
