I need to know if I should be working out every day or perhaps every other day?

I was thinking about working out 4 days a week: working out 3 days (back to back) with cardio and weight training for about an hour then taking a class (kick-boxing or hip-hop) on the fourth day and resting for three days?
Does this sound reasonable or should I alternate days?

im 5'7, 132lbs.

allow time for your muscles to rest in between work out days so every other day is fine.

The answer is no. Unless you are a pro athlete and even they don't work out every day. The girl who says she works out seven days a week for three hours at a time has a serious problem. That is not sustainable. Exercise regularly yes but once you are in shape spend no more than 5 days a week at a maximum one hour. Your body needs to recover and you need to give your brain something to do also.
If I might recommend the best , most sensible advice I have ever seen go to http://fit-n-fat.blogspot.com there you find advice that will carry you through for the rest of your life.

If you are just starting out it is not advisable. However, yes you can work up to it. I workout 7 days a week for 2 to 3 hours a day. You SHOULD alternate days.

Depends on what shape you're in. Key is not to overdo it starting out. You don't want to get sore or push yourself to the point where you get tired of the exercises. I started out 3 days a week (Mo, Wed, Fri) with a short aerobic session followed by a weight session and eventually worked myself up to 6 days a week, alternating aerobics one day and weights another day with one day rest.
Remember too that it takes on average 3 weeks for new habits to stick, so patience is a virtue when it comes to exercise.

Depends on your age, condition, work out type and other obligations such as family, school, church, job etc. No one runs a marathon every day. Try to vary your work out so you don't get bored or it becomes another job. You might consider at least one day a week to just meditate and catch up with things you have put off such as bills, house cleaning, more family participation. Even a walk is exercise. Overall a swim works more muscles than any other exercise and is non impact to the body.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It depends on what you want to do. Weight Training reccommends that you work your muscles every other day so that you give your muscles time to heal themselves. (Strength training and the like causes microscopic tears in your muscles that require repair otherwise serious injury can occur). But aerobic exercises say to work out as much as possible. I say, do it every other day...but dont exceed 3 days between any exercises (cause then all the muscle you built up begins to rot away ..atrophies as scientists call it). Good Luck!

You are my size, and my dad's size that live till 82 y/o. We just do the regular excercise of life, work, love and live. If your weight isn't a problem, like mine isn't, don't worry about it. You will be around with me 50 years from now asking the same questions, where most fat americans will be dead. My family is mostly skinny, and we live to 90, or 100 y/o. It's not magic, it is because most americans are pigs. Ron Couch

If you are just starting out then the answer is NO! If however you have been a regular at your local gym then an everyday limited workout by switching gears each day should do no harm. Good luck and best wishes.

Ido think it is good to work out at least 4 times a week to keep your metabolism at a set rate. In the four days that your work out do not do back to back, only 2days yes rest one then repeat.....

you should not work out everyday. If you are trying to get mass your body needs time to rest, that is when you muscle grows. Every other day is a good program.
