How about Dallas,Tx, Huntsville, AL or St. Paul, MN any suggetions?

I can't tell you of a good place to raise them cuz I'm stuck in Cali. For a great education you can homeschool your kids. That's what I do. Check this site out (California isn't the only state they serve) www.k12.com. The curriculum is great and it is free!

I've heard that St Paul, MN is a good place. It has been in the top 10 places to live a few times in the past few years.

Washington State is real nice. There is alot of opportunities for education here. Any where, from a large city like Vancouver on the southern border, to Seattle in the upper Puget Sound area. All kinds of small towns to choose from, with great schools as well. And there is an unending supply of activities here all within a few hours drive. From the Arts, to camping. The ocean and the Rain Forest in the Olympic National Forest region There are plains and mountains, caves and Ghost towns. You name it, we got it! Your kids should enjoy our great educational opportunities. From Preschool, to Colleges and Universities. Trade Scools and Specialized Education for all kinds of learning needs. You can't lose, if it's Washinton you choose!

You probably want some place with:
- Low Crime
- Good Schools
- Close community environment
- Safe places to play outdoors

Any thriving mid-sized city in the upper mid-west would do well if you can stand the cold--places like Madison, WI, Fargo, ND, Many cities in Minnesota. . .

I think that maybe you should concider Canada. why does it have to be the US.
Canada is a wonderful place to live. I know that it is hard to get here but it is great
