Yes, it is and is the greatest. It is love that makes the world go round. It makes us see all the beauty around us when we are in love. It gives us tremendous feeling of happiness when someone loves us so much romantically.
And aside from romantic love, we've got so much love to give to our family members, friends and anybody in this whole wide world.
But love in romance is the one kind of love that gives us inspiration and enthusiasm each day. And anyone who knows not what romantic love is, is missing a great deal of happiness in his or her life. Anyone can live without it but he or she may have given up something so great and divine if at all he or she will not ever have the chance to love and be loved in his or her lifetime.

Yes. However, this means love of all kinds. A baby cannot survive without being held, an expression of love, and everyone needs friends. We can do well without romantic love for a long time as long as we have friendly and familial love and, most importantly, God's love.

There is love and lust. Love is just the emotional feeling you have towards the other partner whereas lust is the physical attraction you have towards the other partner. Love is not a necessity as you may not fall in love. It just happens. But to bring some excite into the dull life, love is essential. And make sure that you fall in love and not lust... :)

Yes it's a necessity, but not always in romantic form. You don't have to love romantically, but there's always someone or something in this world whom you love in some way- even if it's just your pet cat!

Yes love in life is compleatly necasariy to live. It seems to me alot of suicied victums kill themselves out of lack of love. It's sad. So yes do what you can to love and be loved.

I don't think not having someone to love will cause you to be bitter.
Lonely, maybe. Unhappy, maybe. But starving & homeless??
