There are some boxing matches you can watch again and again. What does it take for a bout to fit into this category?

1. Obviously the boxers. Do they hate each other? Is there a show within the show? Is there history between the two fighters? Think Tyson vs. Lennox. Vargas vs. ODH.
2. Two combatants who came to fight. One sided fights then BAM! one punch and the fight is close again. Castillo vs. Corrales comes to mind.
3. When the announcers hype a fight up so much as "this maybe the fight of the year"---and the fight actually lives up to the potential. Think Hearns vs. Leaonard/PAcquaio vs. Morales
4. When the fighters are actually fighting by the 'textbook.' That means no holding, flinching, running, and all of that other crap that stalls a great fight. I love him, but he stalls a lot--Hopkins. Who doesn't stall? Think Arce. That kid never stops punching. Exciting EXCITING fights.
5. If one of your favorite fighters is fighting. I love Sugar Ray; so I bought all of his fights on DVD. I watch them over and over when I have a chance--regardless of opponent.
6. When a great, older champion is fighting a young lion. Will this be the last fight of so and so? If it is, was it a classic. The last 10 fights for Ali and Chavez, I thought to myself, "Could this be it?" I wanted to take it all in multiple times because this may be the last time I will see them fight.

Stamina, speed, power, iron chin, great reflexes, total refusal to lose and both guys going toe to toe for 12 or 15 rounds! Ward-Gatti have had several great fights like this. Usually it is only the lighter weight fighters who can throw so many punches so often but some of the heavyweight fighters can. Check out Ali and Fraser 1, 2 and 3 - they were great!

My pick, Gatti v. Ward I, . Nothing technical can be picked out of a fight to make it rewatchable, it's something unexplainable. It is this feeling of "Holy ****" I can't believe I'm seeing this, the fight seems to take on another level, their is an aura of something great happening and you are a witness. If your left in shock, total awe after a fight, it's rewatchable.

A lot of punches, good connections, blood, a knock down by each, then eventually in the late rounds a knockout. Then top it off with the corners getting into a battle royal center ring.
