Spending any intimate time (including talking in a restaurant) with another person while you are in a serious relationship with someone. It doesn't have to be sex, though sex is the most obvious. Anything can be cheating. Taking a walk in the park. I don't think talking on the phone is cheating, but it's a step.

* Let us define cheating as any behavior outside the rules intended to give an unfair advantage to one or more players. Many people make the distinction in poker between hard cheating (mechanics, collusion, and the like) and soft cheating (noting the bottom card that the dealer happened to expose without calling for a misdeal). You mean as in a loving relationship? Well, some of my guy friends have said its NOT cheating if your girlfriend lives in another zip code. However, I don't believe this. Cheating is seeing another woman (or man in a woman's case) other than the one that you are dating and/or married to. You have no business hanging out with another woman (or man) by yourself.

Cheating is not just physical, as in having physical relations. There's also emotional cheating, where a person who is exclusive with somebody invests in someone else intimate matters which should be shared with the partner. In general, if a person can't do something with another person in front of his/her mate, then, a question arises as to why and it MAY be a form of cheating.

Anything you would not do if your spouse or gf or bf was there. It could be intimate conversations, passionate kissing, hugging and caressing, holding hands. Being more emotionally attached to the other and of course sex. All would be cheating and I am guilty of some of them.

To me cheating begins in the heart and mind - when you meet your mate and you decide to be a couple this means you have found the one you wish to grow old with the one you desire. how can you get this far and have thoughts of another? I know I am old fashion but why would anyone decide to be with someone when they know they are not ready to be with them heart soul and mind?

I consider any kind of sexual contact. This includes kissing or making out. Because feelings are invoved there. Your significant other shouldn't have feelings for someone else, even if it's not love.
